Some are quick-witted, others are reasoned; many have shifted our perspectives and for that, are worth revisiting, remembering and applying. So for the ninth episode of the podcast, we’ve picked out five of the most inspiring viewpoints from the previous episodes covering the spectrum of building a better self, better business and better future for all.

Here are a few excerpts from the conversations. Click the audio player below to listen to the full episode or subscribe via Apple, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.

Focus on what you can control

Brandon Ng, episode 7

“We are accountable as a business for the outputs, the results. But I’m very much a believer in controlling the inputs. Inputs are things that you can actually control… and those are the things I try to spend my time focusing on and worrying about.”

Be an early mover of a trend

Keith Rumjahn, episode 2

“I’m a big fan of Warren Buffet and read a lot of his books. But he can put really smart people in dying, declining industries, and you still can’t resuscitate it. So the trend and wave [are] really important.”

Never back down

Ann and Billie Dumaliang, episode 3

“Don’t look away once you’ve seen the issues. Don't get overwhelmed. Take a deep breath and just look deeper. And by doing that, hopefully, you really get to contribute monumental change to whatever space you are in.”

Do good without expecting anything in return

Patrick Tsang, episode 8

“We don’t need to calculate whether I’m going to get something good if I help Lee or the guy on the street. It’s just a nice thing to do. Just go and do it. And I think the world would be a better place. Whether there’s money involved, there’s no money involved, whether it’s transactional—it doesn’t matter. I think you should just do the right thing according to your own rulebook.”

Go all in

Austen Chu, episode 1

“You have to do whatever it takes to make what you think will work. Just go all in. All in or nothing. Otherwise, you'll always lose out to the person that's going all in, even if they’ve half your IQ.”
