Welcome to Foodie Finds! This is an article series by Tatler, chronicling where and what to order according to the food-obsessed.
I myself have never understood non-foodies. How can one not love flavours, spices, aromas and all the cultural nuances and memories that come with every bite? Dining is an experience meant to be savoured and is even more fun when shared with loved ones. Dining around a table means sharing, conversing, bonding and learning. A dish can tell you so much about a person, a culture, and a country. It speaks volumes of a nation's history and is an art form on its own. Skilled hands are trained over years or are born out of pure passion and practice. Professional chefs and home cooks alike, from young stars to grandmothers, have been cooking up meals filled with emotion and have truly made us foodies, happy.
Through Foodie Finds, we ask our epicurean friends to share their favourites. In this feature, we tackle takeout and delivery. Hear what sustainability advocate president of the Philippine Coffee Board, co-founder of Echo Store, and major food-lover Chit Juan has to say. She shares her go-to shops for takeout here:

1. Sourdough Cafe and Deli (QC)
@sourdoughcafedeli
I always order either a 40-hour or a 12-hour sourdough loaf. It’s consistent and has that oh so heavenly smell when you toast the slice even after some time in the freezer. It has become my go-to “stockable” sourdough delivery service. As soon as it comes, I have the loaves sliced before keeping most in the freezer. I keep some fresh slices for a day or two of freshly-baked, freshly toasted indulgence. I save the rest for other days when I get good kesong puti or aged comte and salted butter.

2. Vito's BBQ
@vitosbbq
It used to be difficult to queue up but they have expanded now and already have branches nearer my home. I like the boneless chicken served on java rice. Very efficient ordering system no matter what branch you choose. The chicken is juicy tender and the sauce is consistently good. The order comes with atchara (pickled papaya) and their special BBQ sauce.

3. Umu
Umu at Dusit is a favourite! I once ordered a waafu steak special that came in a hot box (though not too eco-friendly) complete with a bento box of spicy tuna sashimi, salmon sashimi, salad and miso soup, which I loved. The sushi came cold and the steak, hot. Perfect! The Pantry or Benjarong can also pack a nice Thai meal; try their Pad thai and tom yum goon. . .yes even for take out or delivery.

4. Artisan’s Playground
@artisansplayground.ph
I love their croissants, pain au chocolat with thick chocolate batons inside, sourdough batard, and their sinful sausage in a roll. These bakers are serious about their dough. They only deliver weekends with a different menu each time. Their cookies are thick and chewy, too. Check out their weekend bake schedule. It changes every week.

5. Gemz Viet cuisine

She has no Instagram or Facebook but I see her at the Salcedo Market and she belongs to my Viber community (+63956 356 4952). She makes one of the best banh mi (barbecued pork inside), bun thit, cha gio (fried spring rolls) and bun ga nuong (chicken salad). She takes advance orders and just for home deliveries, she has chicken or beef pho, too. The tastes are authentic especially because she uses real fresh herbs.
