Here are the 12 local talents that will be putting a twist on their usual offerings

You’re invited to an unparalleled dining experience that brings together the country’s biggest talents. The first ever Tatler Dining Festival, featuring IQOS, will be taking over Chinatown from November 22-24, 2024, with a series of gastronomic experiences and immersive activations in a celebration of our homegrown stars.

Located within REXKL’s REXPERIENCE, the Street Sips and Bites Fiesta will be showcasing homegrown local vendors, from iconic street food favourites to creative and innovative restaurants, who will be cooking up a storm. These 12 local talents will be showcasing their culinary chops from November 23 to 24, 6-11 pm.

Aliyaa

Aliyaa is famed for exquisite Sri Lankan dishes. In true Malaysian spirit, the restaurant showcases soulful recipes. Think savoury crab curries and fluffy sweet appams that draw from recipes passed down from generations of home cooks.

Bartolo

Portuguese bakery Bartolo prides itself on authenticity and craftsmanship, known for crafting rustic breads, dips, spreads, sauces, and jams in-house. They are best known for their delightful, flaky Portuguese egg tarts. 

Chocha Foodstore

A modern Malaysian eatery, Chocha Foodstore is known for championing the use of local produce and showcasing heirloom recipes. The restaurant consistently innovated local cuisine with takes on otak otak paired with pickled bamboo shoots, roasted lamb collar with young jackfruit puree and kemangi chimichurri, and free range chicken smoked in lemongrass leaves.

Dao

Specialty dessert café Dáo prides itself on comforting soy desserts, aiming to share the traditional delicacy in a modern setting. Established in 2018, the recipes served have been passed down three generations from the founder’s family, based in Ipoh.

Ignis KL

With a name that means fire in Latin, it is no surprise that Ignis KL specialises in flame-kissed fare. The team finds ways to incorporate local produce into its dishes, imbuing each offering with char and smoke from its signature smoked honey corn with shio kombu and lime to charred octopus with a tamarind mustard glaze.

Paolo Paolo Gelato

Exploratory, experimental, and inventive, Paolo Paolo Gelato is known for pushing the boundaries of freshly churned gelato. The traditional Italian treats are this spot’s specialty, infused with innovative inclusions including brown butter, fish sauce caramel, lemon mascarpone, and more.

Supernormal

The city’s sleekest and newest coffeehouse, Supernormal is helmed by the minds behind Beta KL, Skillet KL, and Upper House. Nestled in B Hotel Kuala Lumpur, the spot promises to placate any caffeine craving with freshly brewed coffees that diners can pair with perfectly fluffy waffles.

Kayra

Bringing a taste of Kerala to Kuala Lumpur, Kayra is known for its punchy sharing plates. Its dishes are some of the most vibrant in the city, elevating South Indian cuisine with its fish moilee biryani topped with a grilled whole sea bass, pineapple pachidi tart, and curd sago with prawn pickle.

Terra Dining

A new modern Malaysian eatery, Terra Dining is brought to you by chef-owner Chong Yu Cheng. The restaurant celebrates local produce while collaborating with homegrown producers.

The Hungry Tapir x LaGula

Who says you can't bake your (vegan) cake and pastries and eat them too? The Hungry Tapir is a plant-based eatery in the heart of Chinatown that sprouted up at the end of January 2020. Known for its local plates turned vegan, it also has a sister bakery, LaGula. 

Triple Decker

A travelling smash burger specialist, Triple Decker is making a name for itself with its sinfully savoury eats. You’ll find the spot bringing its plates to restaurants around the Klang Valley on a pop-up basis.
