Over 90 restaurants have pledged their proceeds to the greater cause

Having suffered its fair share of hugely stressful events over the past several years, there's little wonder that mental health is one of the most urgent issues facing Hong Kong, with research from the University of Hong Kong revealing that up to a quarter of young Hongkongers have suffered from mental disorders in the past.

This October, local mental health charity Mind HK has partnered with restaurants in Hong Kong to raise awareness of mental health. Running between October 14 and 29, the second annual Mental Health Restaurant Week aims to bring people together, promote conversations about mental health, and gather funds to support Mind HK's charitable projects.

Themed "Food for Thought & Time to Talk", this year's event features over 90 of Hong Kong's favourite restaurants and cafés. By dining at these establishments, patrons can contribute to Mind HK's growth and help develop their programmes, all with the goal of ensuring that no one in Hong Kong has to face a mental health problem alone.

Participating restaurants include previous Tatler Dining Awards winners like 22 Ships, Estro, Hansik Goo and Mott 32. Notable pledges include Bakehouse's donation of HK$30,000 to the cause, while Pici will be donating all proceeds from entry fees to the third annual Pici Pasta Run on October 22.

Launched in 2017, Mind HK is a registered charity that provides resources, training, and outreach campaigns to raise awareness and reduce stigma surrounding mental health in Hong Kong. By collaborating and conducting research, they strive to make Hong Kong a leader in public mental health. To find out more about Mental Health Restaurant Week, click here.
