Singapore’s first Latin American street food and music festival, organised by chefs Daniel and Tamara Chavez, will take place at Canchita Peruvian Cuisine on March 23 and 24
Latinada, Singapore’s first Latin American food festival, will be returning for its hotly-anticipated third edition on March 23 and 24. The weekend festival taking place at Canchita Peruvian Cuisine will bring in ten Latin American chefs based in Asia, who will cook up a storm of classic Latin American street foods to sick beats by ten local and international DJs.
During the fiesta, tacos, tostadas, ceviches, choripanes (Argentine asado), and all manner of iconic street foods will be available, alongside cocktails like sangrias, margaritas, pisco sours, and more—all crafted by Latin American talents.
On the home front, chef Fernando Arévalo of Bacatá joins Maribel Colmendares of Tamales Mexicanos, while on the international front, Latin American chefs helming restaurants across Asia (such as Kuala Lumpur’s Mano, Bangkok’s Nomada, and Bali’s Cantina) will combine their expertise to deliver delectable treats. Some of these will be served in grand proportions, like the “cevichon”, where the chefs will come together to create the largest ceviche ever made in Singapore.

The chefs will be joined by a roster of ten local and international DJs, including Ramesh from Singapore, U-ta from Japan, Gonzo from Mexico and DJ El King from Colombia. They will deliver lively music throughout the weekend, and will perform in programmes such as the “Reggaeton Party Power” on March 23 and the “Tornafiesta” on March 24. Of course, you can expect some dancing at this Latin American festival with salsa classes and zumba—so munch on a taco, sip on a margarita, and dance the night away.

Latinada was founded in 2018 by chef-couple Daniel and Tamara Chavez, then held at Tamara’s now-defunct restaurant, Tono Cevicheria. The festival returned in 2019 with a series of main events, concerts, and dinners across 10 establishments, before taking a pandemic-induced break.
