Cover Granny Q signature laksa

The stall will be holding a pop-up at Rappu Handroll Bar, and will be offering complimentary bowls of its signature laksa on its opening day on April 29

Gourmands would agree that we can never have enough laksa stalls in Singapore. That is why we can’t wait for the popular Penang laksa stall, Granny Q Lemak Laksa stall, to open its first overseas outlet in Singapore this year. Opened in 2022, the family-run stall run by Esther Heng is famed for its signature GQ Penang Lemak Laksa, and is made using the original recipe that her grandmother created in the 1920s. It’s a unique type of laksa that features a rich, spicy coconut milk broth infused with mint leaves, torch ginger, cucumbers and pineapples.

Bringing the laksa stall to the island is F&B group Proper Concepts, which is also behind the concepts Mrs Maria & Mr Singh, The Feather Blade, Goho and Rappu Handroll Bar. Ahead of its opening at its permanent space above Mrs Maria & Mr Singh this year (the exact date will be revealed soon), Granny Q Lemak Laksa will be holding a pop-up at Rappu Handroll Bar on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, from 12 pm to 2.30 pm.

On its opening day on April 29, Granny Q Lemak Laksa will be offering complimentary bowls of its Signature GQ Laksa for dine-in customers.

The Singapore menu will feature two types of laksa—the Signature GQ Laksa served with poached-shredded or fried-spiced tilapia coated in Granny Q’s rempah-spiced tempura batter; and the Supreme GQ Laksa packed with plump scallops, crayfish. Both come with the signature laksa broth and noodles (imported from Penang), mint leaves, torch ginger, cucumbers, pineapples and prawn paste.
