1. Table65

“Chef Richard van Oostenbrugge’s Table65 promises a unique fine dining experience that you can’t get anywhere else in Singapore. For starters, its interiors are a lot more relaxed and casual than you would expect from a one-Michelin-starred restaurant. At the heart of Table65 is an open kitchen, where chefs meticulously bring to life van Oostenbrugge’s whimsical creations: a king crab salad where the star ingredient is hidden beneath slices of avocado and a dollop of Osetra caviar; a chocolate dessert that resembles a golden cacao leaf, made with buckthorn and marigold leaves for a zesty bite; and what looks like an apple core (but is really sorbet) encased in a bubble of sugar. The menu is good fun, as is the atmosphere. You’ll be seated at one of the communal tables around the kitchen, so you won’t merely to have to rely on your company for entertainment. Table65, with its many surprises, is certainly worth a visit whenever you find yourself at Resorts World Sentosa.”

2. Kwee Zeen

“Nestled in Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa is Kwee Zeen. The cosy restaurant offers a wide variety of food, serving up selections from Pan-Asian, Western, and Indian cuisines. If you’re looking for a quiet, intimate meal with family and friends, the homely atmosphere warmly welcomes you. Furry friends are also welcome.

With so many mouth-watering selections on the menu, it can be hard to decide. My friends and I absolutely love the Singapore Laksa. Served with a rich coconut broth the colour of a flaming sunset, the bouncy noodles and ingredients make for a delicious bowl of spicy noodles. Have a go, too, at the Butter Chicken plate. Highly recommended and deemed as the one dish guests return to, the dish is served with addictive chicken masala and naan. Dippings for the naan include yoghurt, fenugreek and butter.”

3. Coastes

“Coastes is simply the relaxing vibe that I appreciate for quality catch-ups with friends at the beach. When I'm there, I like to split its all-time classic Margherita pizza or savour its decadent beer-battered fish and chips. When it comes to drinks, the frozen strawberry margarita is a must-order—cold and refreshing, the cocktail is definitely one of my favourites.”

4. Cassia

Tatler Asia
Above Dim sum selection

“When it comes to a truly exceptional dim sum experience, we can look no further than Cassia. Located in Capella, and in the heart of the southernmost point of continental Asia, the multi award-winning Asian restaurant really does not get it wrong. A splendid way to start my mornings on the island, dim sum chef Chow Nga Ming’s steamed morsels of sustenance really make the most important meal of the day extraordinary.

At once savoury and, dare I say, sweet, their signature steamed prawn and chicken siew mais—that are topped with abalones—are the obvious choice. But it is a fortifying bowl of double-boiled chicken, fish maw, scallops and flower mushroom broth that really seals the deal; the perfect respite for the chilly northeast monsoon we are currently facing.

And at this point, after another two rounds of wok-fried XO carrot cake with Chinese sausage and scallops, my body is ready to be lulled into a food coma and tenderised at the hotel’s Auriga spa. Typically, before I leave the island, I always return to the restaurant after my two-hour massage to reward myself with Chow’s chilled mango cream with pomelo and sago, and if I am really lucky, I will also get to enjoy the restaurant’s best kept secret: his osmanthus jelly that is not on the menu.”

5. Skirt

“I’m always up for good quality steak, especially when I feel like indulging. If you are one, like me, who is always on the lookout for a juicy steak, head over to Skirt. This steakhouse offers succulent cuts of beef, cooked over its signature Parrilla grill. Try Skirt’s signature Brandt USDA prime grain-fed tomahawk and dig into tender and juicy meat with a wonderfully smoky finish. While steaks are its staple, you can also find a wide range of other dishes including Iberico pork tomahawk, grilled Maine lobster and buckwheat risotto.

If you can't decide what to order, as one does after looking at its extensive menu, opt for the grazing menu. Perfect for two, the set begins with delectable starters, including buttery wood-fired bone marrow, accompanied with pear compote and grilled sourdough. For mains, choose between its flat iron fillet and char-grilled free-range chicken. The set finishes with a rich and creamy Ovaltine kulfi (traditional Indian ice cream).”

6. FOC Sentosa

“I’m not much of a beach person but for some reason, I have been rather curious about dining on the beach—quite literally, with sand beneath my toes—in the past few months. I was inspired enough to book an outdoor table at FOC Sentosa with my girlfriends on a hot weekday afternoon when we all took a day off from work. I felt a tinge of regret right as I sat at our wooden table and bench, no thanks to the humidity and heat while at Tanjong Beach. But as soon as our food arrived, all hints of discomfort went away. The restaurant offers a wide variety of Mediterranean treats with sharing platters available, which is especially convenient for those lounging away on beach chairs with friends. Try the tapas such as FOC patatas bravas, deep-fried calamari, FOC chicken ‘satay’ nuggets, roasted cauliflower and more. You can also indulge in a Spanish paella, available in a variety of flavours, that can serve up to four people.

And is it really a good time on the beach without a cold drink in hand? Whether it’s an iced salted caramel latte or a chilled gin & tonic served in a generous balloon glass—the beverage options at FOC Sentosa are extensive and will definitely help combat the sweltering heat. But of course, you can also choose to sit indoors and watch fellow guests soak in the sun.”

7. Rumours Beach Club

Tatler Asia
Above Jimbaran Bali BBQ

“If I want to take a break from the city’s hustle and bustle, you’ll find me soaking up the sun at Rumours Beach Club at Siloso Beach. What I like about the place—apart from the view, of course—is that it offers a slice of Bali through its food and drinks. Inspired by the Jimbaran Bali BBQ, the seafood platter comes loaded with ocean-fresh jumbo prawns, bamboo lobster, red snapper and squid marinated in a house-made concoction of Balinese spices, and cooked over charcoal grill. You’ve also got refreshing drinks, too, which are ideal for our hot and humid weather. I always go for the Frozen Strawberry Margarita, but if I’m feeling fancy, I’ll opt for a glass of bubbly.”
