Lockdown blues kicking in? We’ve got you covered with a roundup of the best places to day drink in Hong Kong this month. From limited-time menus to unique dim sum and cocktail pairing experiences, these restaurants are guaranteed to impress and brighten up your mood

Hong Kong’s tightened social distancing measures may have forced us to scrap our dinner plans, but that won’t stop us from eating and drinking well this February. Many of the city’s most celebrated restaurants are still up and running to delight us with a variety of dining options—free-flow brunches, good-value business lunches, hot pot and Valentine’s Day takeaways...the list goes on.

And if you want to indulge a bit more, a host of drinks promotions are also available to quench your thirst and get you through lockdown. From the new luxury bar lounge Kuromaru's offerings, to the unique cocktail and dim sum pairing menu at Woo Cheong Tea House, head to these restaurants to enjoy a new reason to celebrate.

1. Penicillin

Sustainable bar Penicillin has just launched a special promotion of free-flow cocktails that will satisfy even the most discerning drinkers. Available from 3 to 6pm daily, guests will enjoy bottomless servings of house cocktail creations, selected wines and ferments.

Feeling peckish? You’ll want to sample their new lockdown lunch set as well. Expect a delicious meal featuring two starters and one main course from a selection of a fish sandwich, rosemary lamb rack, chicken alfredo egg noodles, or roasted chicken.

To elevate your experience, a new seasonal highball menu featuring seasonal ingredients is available as well. Highlights include Ordinary that’s made with classic bourbon, fresh soda and peeled lemon; Hops, a concoction of hop distillate and clarified grapefruit soda.

2. Woo Cheong Tea House

Fancy a luxury dim sum and cocktail pairing experience? Woo Cheong Tea House is the place you’d like to visit this month. Peruse the drink menu and you’ll find an impressive collection of unique tea-infused cocktails, gins, whiskeys from around the world, draught beers and many more. Food-wise, traditional Cantonese delicacies such as shrimp dumplings, spring rolls, marinated jellyfish and roasted pork belly are on offer to complement your drinks.

3. Kuromaru

The newly opened Western-Japanese dining concept Maison Meiji’s bar lounge is worth a visit alone for its beautiful and sophisticated setting. But it’s equally becoming a destination for music lovers and cocktail enthusiasts, with an excellent drink menu to boot.

Inspired by Japan’s transformative Meiji restoration period, the lounge features a carefully curated collection of vinyl records, ranging from jazz to rock and pop that allows guests to enjoy drinks in a relaxed atmosphere. On their menu, you’ll find an extensive selection of shochu and awamori cocktails featuring the finest labels from specialised distilleries in Japan.

4. Hjem

Known for its cosy setting and comforting Scandinavian delights, Hjem is rolling out a new menu to welcome guests to enjoy daytime gatherings with friends over a well-curated collection of cocktails. Enjoy great conversations while sipping one of the bistro’s most signature concoctions, including Lingonberry Spritz, Cinnamon Bun Espresso Martini, and Skål— a Norwegian wheat lager in collaboration with Young Master Brewery.

6. Club Rangoon

If the tempting Burmese dishes at Club Rangoon aren’t enough to attract you to visit the restaurant again, perhaps their new free-flow drinks promotion will do the trick. Available 3 to 6 pm daily on weekdays, the new offer invites guests to enjoy a great selection of beverages including the Pegu Club, a special gin with homemade orange and Burmese black tea liqueur cocktail, Aperol Spritz and house red and white wines.
