This year, 49 cafes and restaurants are taking part in the campaign where HK$5 will be donated to help animal protection for each cup sold
David Yeung’s Green Monday is once again teaming up with Peta for the ‘Coffee for Cats’ charity campaign.
As with last year, the process is the same—head to any of the 49 participating cafes and restaurants between February 12 to 28 to order a plant-based Peta coffee and HK$5 will be donated to the organisation to continue their work on animal protection.
This year, the participating cafes and restaurants will craft cups of the Peta coffee with British plant-based milk, Minor Figures Bartista Oat or other plant-based milk, with some even presented with cat-inspired latte art.
Among the 49 cafes and restaurants, totalling 85 outlets, below are our favourites.
Don’t miss: All the New Cafes and Brunch Spots to Visit in February 2022
Elixir, Sheung Wan
Boasting a minimalist design with granite tones, glass doors and wood, Elixir is a crowd favourite for those looking for an Instagrammable cafe—and good coffee. An extra added reason to visit is the cafe’s resident shorthair cat, Charlie.
Elixir, 9 Mee Lun Street, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong
Hidden Coffee, Tuen Mun
Hidden Coffee is a little far-flung from most coffee shops but it’s well worth a visit. Where else would you enjoy some downtime without the crowds you’d usually see in Central or Causeway Bay?
Offering handcrafted coffee, the cafe also has a coffee training program to support minorities and those with intellectual disabilities.
Hidden Coffee, Shop 6, G/F, Lucky Building, 106 Castle Peak Road, Tuen Mun, Hong Kong
Uchi Coffee, Tai Wai
Japanese-style cafe, Uchi Coffee has a lot to offer: a good cuppa, a welcoming interior that has floor-to-ceiling windows, white walls and wooden fixtures and unique desserts.
It’s a great place to dine, chat, work or study and relax. The four-story cafe also turns into a nail salon on the third floor and a venue space on the fourth floor that hosts creative workshops.
Uchi Coffee, Shop P, G/F, On Shun Mansion, 49 Chik Shun Street Tai Wai, Hong Kong
Vego Coffee, Tsim Sha Tsui
Pet-friendly, healthy food and photogenic? Vego Coffee ticks all the boxes. This vegan place is well-loved for its healthy choices—using meat substitutes such as Omnipork or konjac. Their desserts are vegan which is perfect for those with dietary restrictions who have limited dessert options.
Vego Coffee, Shop 7B, G/F, Garden Mansion, 154–156 Austin Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
Friends of Years, Sham Shui Po
Friends of Years is a popular choice if you’re looking for meatless or vegan options in Sham Shui Po—among its many cafes. But the cafe now has three other branches to visit, each with its own specific menu.
