For its 55th anniversary celebration, the Philippine Educational Theatre Association (PETA) opens with "Rak 4 PETA" fundraising campaign which features the last and final online public streaming of the hit musical "Rak of Aegis"

PETA is starting 2022 year right with its 55th anniversary celebration dubbed Alt+Shift Enter.  Despite being challenged by the on and off lockdowns, the highly-regarded theatre group continues to empower artists of all generations through significant plays.

The group kicks off its online party with a fund-raising campaign called Rak 4 PETA which features the last and final online streaming of the sought-after musical Rak of Aegis

"Our 55th anniversary is therefore dubbed 'Alt+Shift Enter' as we aim to rise to the challenge of evolving, changing, and expanding during these transformative times. In the same spirit of our previous engagements and partnerships, we hope that you can be one with us as we ensure that PETA survives and transcends the pandemic crisis through a strengthened digital presence that captures the depth, breadth and relevance of PETA’s work," the team said in its statement.

"Despite the difficulties brought about by the health crisis, we have felt the public’s desire to still be able to experience the arts, to watch shows, to create, and to express themselves in a time of ambiguity. Audiences are now getting used to the at-home viewing experience with the emergence of various platforms and streaming options. And although theatres across the globe continue to struggle, PETA is determined to further discover and embark on this new digital ship," it added.

The jukebox musical Rak of Aegis, which will be streamed on April 23 and 24, features the popular hits of '90s band Aegis and the story of Aileen, a young girl who steps out of her fictional town, Barangay Venizia, in hopes of becoming an internet sensation.

"Through this fundraising, we hope to gather enough support to produce brand new works, expand our education pedagogy, and further strengthen our theatre for development and advocacy work. 'Rak 4 PETA' will embody the company’s programs beyond COVID, as we reimagine PETA in the new normal and navigate the company post-pandemic," said PETA.
