John Walker & Sons XR21 celebrates its legacy of mastery with Royal Selangor to honour the heritage of local culture, tradition & craft.

Through its John Walker & Sons XR21 label, Johnnie Walker and Royal Selangor celebrated the legacy of mastery through the premium spirit's Mastery of Craft platform.

In an event held at Genting Rouge, both brands came together to showcase some of the best pewter crafts by Royal Selangor. Guests savoured a sumptuous dinner alongside the smooth and balanced nuances of John Walker & Sons XR21 throughout the night.

Both brands celebrate heritage and craft, as they have a longstanding history of producing the finest product offerings, which takes time to develop and is appreciated by those who know its value—be it in terms of whisky or pewter products. And at the event this year, different pieces from Royal Selangor were showcased to the attendees, ranging from Hexagon carafes, Atiya Nut serving trays, and hand-hammered drinking tumblers, to mesmerising vases that were used to conduct the mentoring sessions and on display throughout the venue. Guests even got to try their hand at crafting through an interactive session by Royal Selangor.

The evening was complemented by Cantonese Opera and Fu Chow Dragon Dance Troupe performances—art and crafts that have also withstood the test of time which are passed down from generation to generation. Thus sharing the same values and outlook in progressively celebrating and honouring crafts, culture and traditions, John Walker & Sons XR21 and Royal Selangor seek to connect these legacies to audiences to appreciate and continue the celebration of mastery.

The Mastery of Craft platform established by John Walker & Sons XR21 first took flight in 2017, aiming to immerse guests in the rich heritage of local Chinese communities, an embodiment of Malaysia’s identity.
