Johnnie Walker Blue Label reveals exciting designs for its Cities of the Future 2220 series
Having been around for over 200 years, Johnnie Walker Blue Label wonders what it would be like to enjoy whisky 200 years from now. Thus, the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Cities of the Future 2220 was born.
This special series is the shared vision of Johnnie Walker and renowned digital artist, Luke Halls. Together, they have crafted an innovative collaboration, imagining what some of the world’s most iconic cities may look like 200 years from now.
Through exploring themes of geo-engineering, AI empowerment, and physics-defying technologies, the new collection of 10 limited edition designs reimagines a thriving and vibrant future society, transformed cityscapes and skylines, and embracing new scientific developments pushing the limits of what’s possible.
Don't miss: How to make the most out of Mars in retrograde
We got to view one of the designed, the Mars edition, at an exclusive event at EQ Kuala Lumpur, which took us into the future—giving us a preview of how the luxury whisky may be savoured two centuries from now.
Johnnie Walker collaborated with Andrew Tan, the beverage director for 61Monarchy, and his team to create exciting new ways to enjoy Johnnie walker Blue Label. They eventually came up with molecular curative beverages, which can be seen above.
To begin, guests were greeted with a welcome drink—a hot and cold premium pu'er tea infused with Johnnie Walker Blue Label, which surprisingly featured both hot and cold sensations simultaneously in the mouth. The excitement didn't end there, as there were other new gastronomic ways to enjoy the whisky.
We were the transported to three pods for a taste of how the Blue Label could be enjoyed 200 years from now. There was the Penicillin cocktail in which a type of gel encased the whisky plus other liquid ingredients. It popped in your mouth for a burst of flavours.
Next were three textural variations of the Penicillin cocktail—both clarified and unclarified jelly along with a paste. In the third and final pod were three other unconventional cocktails, laid out in test tubes. Each test tube featured uncommon ingredients for a cocktail—think roasted hazelnut, micro plum and peach caviar—that worked surprisingly well.
After the entire amazing experience, guests were then able to get up close with the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Cities of the Future 2220 designs and have their fill of the luxurious and smooth whisky.
