Diageo Rare & Exceptional and Tatler proudly welcomed a select group of whisky lovers to experience the 2021 Legends Untold Special Release collection, for the first time in the Philippines
Diageo Rare & Exceptional is a range of exceedingly luxurious spirits. These highly collectable liquids are meticulously selected from the very best of Diageo's extensive stocks of whisky. The spirits included within the Rare & Exceptional range include some of the world's most highly coveted and recognisable brands: Mortlach, Brora, Talisker, Singleton, Lagavulin, Johnnie Walker, as well as legendary ghost distilleries like Port Ellen. The Rare & Exceptional range represents some of the most sought-after spirits in the world, with demand far exceeding the very limited availability of these precious liquids.
Through an intimate gathering of whisky aficionados and enthusiasts, some of the world's most spectacular whiskies were unveiled. Welcomed by Irene Martel Francisco, managing director of Tatler Philippines and Rajesh Joshi, general manager of Diageo Philippines, familiar faces and new friends made their way around the room to view the stunning build presenting each fascinating whisky while trying the delectable pass-around bites prepared by Solaire.

We excitedly launched the Legends Untold collection to these discerning few, which features 7 single malt whiskies, underscoring the diversity of Diageo's premium porfolio. Annually the brand selects certain key distilleries for each special release collection to showcase only the best reserves that Diageo has to offer.
For this 2021 release, titled Legends Untold, Diageo tells the fantastical tales of each distillery, sharing the untold mythical and magical stories linked to these iconic brands, bringing enthusiasts closer into the world of whisky.
It has been told that through ancient fables, otherworldly beings roamed the land and guarded these Scottish distilleries with ferocity and tenacity, sworn to do so until the end of time. These creatures are what inspired the stunning artwork by Ken Taylor featured on every bottle and case which you can even experience in virtual reality by scanning the QR codes featured on the bottles.

Our guests were in for nothing short of a memorable experience for each of the six single malts we were able to try that evening, were paired with a dish from Solaire’s talented F&B team, pampering diners with every sip and bite.
The iconic featured single malts are the darkly bold and rich Mortlach 13-year-old from the Speyside Dufftown distillery; a smoky and peaty Talisker 8-year-old, The Singleton of Glendullan 19-year-old, an Oban 12-year-old and Cardhu 14-year-old. Lastly, the collection also presents two stunning expressions of the Lagavulin, ‘The King of Islay’ which is a perfectly balanced sweet and salty 12-year-old, and, the phenomenal 26-year-old that is finished in first-fill Pedro Ximenez/Oloroso casks.

Fans around the world will be thrilled to know that master blender Dr Craig Wilson himself, hand-selected each of the whiskies himself when conceptualising the Legends Untold collection. “We have delved into the core characteristics of several classic distilleries, for the Legends Untold collection. Taking inspiration from the mythical creatures of this year’s collection, we have revealed new depths of flavour and embraced the essence of each whisky’s unique profile revealing the legend it brings to life. This year’s collection is just the very beginning of the story,” he shares.
