Pumpkin spice is pretty nice. Here's where to grab ahold of some of the season's best desserts

If you're obsessed with everything pumpkin (like myself) then you may be keeping an eye out for this year's seasonal treats. While pumpkin spice has only recently gained a foothold in the Philippines, it's already among our favourite desserts! If you want to try it out yourselves (or simply indulge in a new favourite), check these restaurants and bakeries out!

1. S&R

Long before Starbucks brought the popular pumpkin spiced lattes to the Philippines, S&R had already been jumping onboard the trend. In my experience, they were the first grocery to offer pumpkin pies to shoppers in the Philippines. Today, their pie remains one of my favourites. Their filling is creamy and sweet, with a hint of cinnamon. Though it's fairly simple—no whipped cream or any other kind of garnish or decoration—this straightforward dessert remains a holiday staple on my family's dinner table every time the "ber" months roll around.

2. Starbucks

You've heard about it from the movies, and you may have seen it on some influencer's Instagram story. The Starbucks pumpkin spice latte has become a "ber" month mainstay for the cafe. But this year, they're levelling it up with pumpkin swirl cheesecake! But be warned: this dessert isn't for the faint-hearted. It's rich and creamy, with a strong cheesy flavour and hints of spice. One slice is perfect to share over a cup of cold brew or espresso.

We've all had our fair share of banana bread this pandemic season. For the holidays, change it up with Bungalow Cafe's moist pumpkin loaf. Topped with pumpkin seeds, this delightful creation is the perfect (almost) guilt-free merienda treat we need.

4. Ninth Street Bakery

Just because we don't have autumn doesn't mean we don't crave for some hearty autumnal treats. These pumpkin spice cupcakes are a yearly tradition for Ninth Street Bakery. Topped with a healthy serving of nuts, their cupcakes are as aromatic as your favourite fall spices. Check out their other flavours too—you may find a new favourite with peppermint cocoa or apple cinnamon.

5. Wildflour

Sweet treats to follow this season with Wildflour. Their pumpkin pie is back. Made with a subtle pumpkin filling and topped with sweet marshmallow creme, Wildflour's pumpkin pie has been drawing attention since it first released last year. This 2021, it returns (likely due to popular demand) and we aren't missing out on the chance to have another go at this fall favourite.

6. Krispy Kreme

Need a quick snack to power you through the afternoon? Consider Krispy Kreme's pumpkin cheesecake donut. It mixes the best of both worlds and combines a subtle pumpkin spice with rich cream cheese on top of a freshly baked donut. Now who can resist that? Pair it with their pumpkin spice latte for a true taste adventure this season.
