Cupcakes by Sonja

Cupcakes by Sonja snags a top spot on our list of where to get cupcakes—and of course, this bakery has been around since 2006. It's unarguably one of the pioneers of the cupcake craze in the Philippines. Founded by Sonja Ocampo, the namesake establishment has a line of fashionable flavours that include everything from lemon to chocolate. They also have sugar-free and gluten-free options, as well as plant-based offerings. This Halloween, be sure to check out their themed cupcakes for a spooky but sweet treat!

M Bakery

M Bakery sure packs a punch. Full of flavour and sweetness, these dainty (yet decadent) little cupcakes are a sweet tooth's delight. Check out their classic flavours such as vanilla and chocolate, but don't forget to buy a dozen (or so) of their more adventurous offerings. We love their tangy calamansi cupcake, followed by indulgent truffle, tropical hummingbird (with bananas and pineapple), and of course, exciting raspberry lemon. Loyal adherents to their Cupcake of the Week can also expect an exciting new specialty every single week.

Mom & Tina's

Brunch is always better at Mom & Tina's. Though they're known for their cosy menu, Mom & Tina's knows how to excite with glass cases full of sweet treats. Among them are cupcake favourites including red velvet and mocha buttercreme fudge (both are bestsellers, by the way). We love their decadent beehive flavour too.

Lia's Cakes in Season

If you love avocado as much as the next millennial, then you're in for a treat. Lia's Cakes in Season have the best avocado cupcakes in the Metro. Not feeling too fruity? Try their chocolate variant as well—it's a classic.

Bellefleur by Beatrix

Red velvet is a certified crowd-pleaser, but when you're looking for a taste of the traditional, it's time to try ube velvet. Bellefleur by Beatrix combines the distinctive taste of purple yam with a dollop of frosting to create ube velvet, a richly coloured pastry that's perfect for sharing. Best eaten with their award-winning macaroons too.

Apéritif

Apéritif grazing boxes have become a party staple, but their cupcake boxes mustn't be overlooked either. Aside from rich dark chocolate, moist red velvet, and delightful vanilla blueberry, Apéritif also has indulgent alcohol-infused cupcakes such as whisky flavour and vodka strawberry. Topped with gold foil, strawberries, and chocolate bars, these cupcake boxes sit beautifully on any dessert tabletop.

Richelle's

Floral bouquets needn't be so passé. Richelle Floral Cakes puts a fun twist on the classic gift by turning it into something sweeter. Iced delicately, each bouquet can be customised to include sunflowers, roses, peonies, and more. It's a great birthday gift, and perhaps even a better Valentine's gift for 2022.

Slice

Choco yema is something of a specialty at Slice. They have it in cake form, in a jar, and of course, as a cupcake. After indulging in their delightful brunch food (that include salad and pasta), don't forget to end your meal with a cupcake or two.
