The tradition of afternoon tea has become ingrained in our culture since it was brought over by the British ages ago. But that’s not a bad thing, especially in our food-obsessed nation because we get to indulge in bite-sized delights such as finger sandwiches, scones and jam to tide us over before dinner. Even better, you can wash these down with aromatic hot tea, fizzy cocktail or even a super shake.
If you’re ready to partake in this grand tradition, here are some places to go for traditional bites, champagne and more.
1. The Grand Lobby
Take a trip to South America with The Grand Lobby’s Peru Afternoon Tea. Exclusively available from now until November 30, the restaurant’s latest spread is inspired by the country’s vibrant gastronomic traditions. Head down and dig into mouth-watering Peruvian flavours such as the Peruvian-style grilled chicken sandwich complete with a fiery green jalapeno sauce; and Pan Con Chicharron. The latter is a Peruvian sandwich layered with fork tender slow braised pork and sweet potato.
When it comes to dessert, get to delight in a unique assortment of classic Peruvian creations, such as the fluffy Picarones (Peruvian donuts) and Suspiro de Limena, an indulgent dessert comprising a layer of dulce de leche topped with light meringue. Book here.
