This famed French-Japanese cafe chain—which is opening its doors on December 1—currently has 21 locations around the world

The long wait is finally over for coffee aficionados, as Café Kitsuné is opening its first Singapore outlet on December 1. The French-Japanese café will be located in Capitol Singapore, taking over the space formerly occupied by Japanese-style patisserie, Flor Patisserie.

While the Singapore outlet is comparatively smaller than its other outlets across the world, there’s still much to be excited about. Head down and look forward to an extensive menu filled with new and classic creations—from its famous fox-shaped shortbread biscuits to its rich and subtly spicy chilli chocolate tart.

Of course, a selection of coffees will also be available, made from the cafe’s signature coffee blend. Known for being ‘full-bodied’ and ‘flavoursome’, the café cultivates its single-origin coffee beans from Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Salvador and Guatemala. These beans are carefully roasted, providing notes of chocolate, grilled hazelnuts and cherry. The result is a gorgeous blend that is both smooth and syrupy.

From indulgent pastries to fragrant coffees, it’s no surprise that the café has quickly become a cult favourite among coffee connoisseurs. First launched in Tokyo back in 2013, this café chain has quickly expanded over the globe, including Paris, Seoul, Bangkok and the Philippines.

With the much-anticipated opening, here are the offerings that we can’t wait to try on the Singapore menu:

1. Paris Brest

The café’s interpretation of the classic French dessert, this pastry sees light and airy choux filled with a nutty hazelnut praline creme. It’s finished with a light dusting of powdered sugar and hazelnuts.

2. Matcha Éclair

The matcha eclair is an elevated version of the classic French pastry, substituting rich chocolate cream with a nutty matcha one. The fragrant matcha paste is encased within a buttery choux pastry that has been baked until golden brown. It’s topped with more bittersweet matcha paste and strawberry.

3. Egg Sando

Not a fan of sweets? This cafe also serves up a selection of Japanese sandos, including the egg sando. The decadent sandwich features gooey egg, creamy egg mayo and fresh lettuce sandwiched between fluffy slices of bread.

4. Strawberry Shortcake

A treat for the eyes and stomach, this strawberry shortcake comprises beautiful layers of fluffy sponge cake, sweet strawberry slices and light cream.

5. Fox-Shaped Shortbread

You can't visit the cafe and not try its signature fox-shaped shortbread. At the Singapore outlet, look forward to four variations, including butter, matcha, chocolate and sesame. Have a bite and revel in rich, buttery flavours that go perfectly with a cup of coffee.
