At this point, if you still haven't heard about Irene, Joy, Yeri, Wendy, and Seulgi of the phenomenal and award-winning K-pop girl band Red Velvet, you're probably hiding under a rock in Mars. The girls have made such a huge impact that it is almost impossible to miss them; trust us when we say this, they've literally performed in North Korea last 2018.
The group has bagged several awards, including six Seoul Music Awards, four Melon Music Awards, four Korean Entertainment Arts Awards, three The Fact Music Awards, and one Teen Choice Award. Need we say more?

1. Irene

Irene, whose birth name is Bae Joo-hyun, joined SM Entertainment in 2009 and trained for five years. On December 9, 2013, she was one of the second batch of trainees introduced as a member of the SM Rookies, the pre-debut team of SM Entertainment.
On July 27, 2014, the K-idol officially joined and became the leader of Red Velvet. The group made their debut with the single Happiness. Irene has always been busy with her music career until 2016 when she made her acting debut in the web drama Women at a Game Company, where she played the female lead. In the same year, Irene joined the cast of Hello! Our Language! a sitcom that seeks to teach audiences proper Korean.

2. Joy

Park Soo-young, who is known for her stage name 'Joy,' debuted as a Red Velvet member in August 2014. She has also become an actress and started starring in television dramas in 2017 with The Liar and His Lover and in 2018 in Tempted. She is also known for her role as Seong Mi-do.
Back in 2019, Joy ranked 20 in Gallup Korea's annual data list of the country's Most Popular Idols. In February 2020, Joy was invited as a VIP guest of renowned American fashion designer Michael Kors at the New York Fashion Week, with Vogue calling Joy "one of K-pop's brightest stars".
3. Yeri

Yeri was first introduced as a new Red Velvet member on March 10, 2015, during the girl group's first EP, Ice Cream Cake. In July 2016, the artist became the female lead in J-Min and Shim Eun-jee's Wake Back Home music video, which was released as part of the single project SM Station.
In April 2018, the artist was cast in JTBC's new variety show Secret Unnie together with Han Chae-young. On March 14, 2019, the music video for Yeri's first composition Dear Diary was released. In February 2021, Yeri was cast in tvN's one-act drama Drama Stage with the episode entitled Mint Condition.

4. Wendy

Wendy, whose birth name is Seongbuk-dong, was raised by a family of music lovers. She showed a keen interest in becoming a performing artist when she was just six years old. She lived with her family in Jecheon until the star decided to move and study in Canada with her older sister.
In 2010, Wendy submitted an online audition for Koreaboo's Global Auditions 2011 with Cube Entertainment. Here, she was included in the 15 finalists personally picked by singer G.NA. In 2012, she was cast by SM Entertainment and eventually included in the group SM Rookies.
On August 1, 2014, Wendy made her official debut as a member of Red Velvet.

5. Seulgi

Kang Seul-gi (often spelt 'Seulgi') began training under SM Entertainment in 2007, she was one of the first three trainees introduced publicly through SM Entertainment's pre-debut project, SM Rookies. Some of her pre-debut clips include a dance performance with Irene. She was also featured in Henry Lau's song Butterfly from his second EP Fantastic.
Seul-gi was introduced as an official Red Velvet member on August 1, 2014, and since then, she was featured in various reality shows like Level UP Project!.
Last January 25, 2021, the star was featured in the music video of TVXQ Yunho's Eeny Meeny. On December 27 of the same year, she was revealed as a member of the supergroup Got the Beat alongside her Red Velvet groupmate, Wendy. The group debuted on January 3, 2022.
