From Arnold & Son to Vacheron Constantin, these are luxury watches celebrating the new Chinese lunar calendar in style
With the Wood Dragon taking over from the Water Rabbit in the Lunar New Year, Chinese astrologers anticipate 2024 to be a year characterised by strong vitality, growth, and resilience, as the wood element enhances the dragon's traditionally auspicious qualities.
The majestic Chinese dragon is a cherished motif in precious objects, not only embodying artistic beauty but also symbolising auspicious qualities such as strength, power, and prosperity. So when it comes to creating a luxury watch with the image of the mythical beast, these watchmakers have a wealth of inspirations to draw from.

Arnold & Son
Arnold & Son is celebrating the Lunar New Year in a spectacular fashion, with two models, each in two references, to commemorate the festive season. First, the Luna Magna Red Gold “Year of the Dragon” commands attention with a sculpted golden dragon coiling around the dial seemingly chasing after a 3D moon in red gold and onyx. There are two dial options: blue or glossy black onyx, each limited to eight pieces.
Then there is the Perpetual Moon 41.5 Red Gold “Year of the Dragon”, distinguished by a moon travelling across the aperture to indicate the different phases of Earth’s natural satellite as seen in the sky. The mother-of-pearl moon is set against an aventurine disc embellished with hand-painted Great Bear and Cassiopeia constellations. This astronomical setting is paired with a golden dragon. Again, there are two dial options: black or blue aventurine.
