The instantly recognisable BR 03 square watch is embracing the current trend favouring smaller case sizes
The idea of a pilot-inspired watch in a square case may not seem so revolutionary now but back when Bell & Ross introduced it in 2005, with an aesthetic that recalls the instrument panel on a fighter plane, it was novel enough to make a huge impact. When it debuted, it came in a hefty 46mm case size; in 2006, its sibling the BR 03 was introduced in a more commercially appealing 42mm.

This year, Bell & Ross has reduced the BR 03 size to 41mm and it is available in a collection of eight watches. They are powered by the new automatic BR-CAL.302 calibre with a 54-hour power reserve. The look ranges from retro (for the black ceramic versions) to contemporary (for the polished steel) in a variety of dial colours. Though smaller, these timepieces continue to preserve the aviation spirit with aeronautical codes that have become synonymous with the BR 03.
