Tatler GMT editor Annabel Tan interviews founder of Ressence, Benoît Mintiens, about his unique approach to designing watches from an engineering standpoint, how to tell the time on a Ressence watch and more

Most founders of luxury watch brands were trained in watchmaking, but Benoît Mintiens of the independent brand Ressence stands out as an anomaly. Born in Belgium, where Ressence is based, Mintiens’s background is in design. More specifically, he studied industrial design and made it his career, where he designed all kinds of products from trains to medical devices furniture and more.

In this video interview with Mintiens, Tatler GMT editor Annabel Tan finds out why he decided to make the switch from industrial design to start his own watch brand. He also discusses his design philosophy and the many unique details of a Ressence watch.
