In celebration of Sincere Fine Watches’ 70th anniversary, Lang & Heyne introduces the Friedrich III Remontoir Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition, a watch that encapsulates both the brand’s storied legacy and visionary craftsmanship

As Sincere Fine Watches celebrates its 70th anniversary, German watchmaker Lang & Heyne unveils a timepiece that embodies both heritage and innovation: the Friedrich III Remontoir Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition.

Limited to just 7 pieces, this watch not only echoes the design language of the inaugural Lang & Heyne Georg SHH Edition but also introduces unique elements that set it apart within the collection.

The watch distinguishes itself with a unique dial design, which departs from conventional solid silver dials. Instead, this edition features a ceramic dial with a sand-blasted royal blue solid silver decorative plate at the centre.

This distinctive combination creates a captivating interplay of colours and textures, with the frosted givree-finished blue centre contrasting against the smooth white ceramic periphery and seconds subdial. Chamfered and polished edges further enhance the dial’s sophisticated, three-dimensional appearance.

“For us, the combination of the ceramic dial with a sand-blasted royal blue solid silver decorative plate at the centre represents our latest approach to manufacturing,” explains Alexander Gutierrez Diaz, CEO of Lang & Heyne.

“We have invested significantly in developing our in-house dial-making capabilities. This timepiece was the perfect opportunity to bring these advancements to market, and since Sincere Fine Watches is our long-term partner, it was a good opportunity to show this piece to the public,” Diaz adds.

Beneath the elegant exterior beats the soul of the timepiece—the Caliber VI-I movement. Its distinctive trigonal bridge offers a tantalising glimpse of the intricate gear train below. Each component is perfectly finished, with hand engravings that elevate the movement from mere mechanics to wearable art. The baseplate proudly declares its exclusivity with an engraved “One of 7”, while the balance cock boasts an intricate etched pattern that further enhances the movement’s aesthetic appeal.

The remontoir complication, positioned adjacent to the escape wheel, is more than just a visual treat. It serves as the watch’s regulating heart, ensuring consistent energy transfer throughout the power reserve. This sophisticated mechanism not only results in the mesmerising jumping seconds display but also guarantees precise timekeeping.

Jens Schneider, Lang & Heyne’s development director and master watchmaker, offers insight into the movement’s philosophy. “It’s important that our customers wear watches they can use every day, with a mechanism that combines artistry and functionality,” he said, further emphasising how the movement in this exemplifies this balance, with its slow-frequency balance wheel offering both a tranquil visual experience and reliable timekeeping.

Schneider further explains that the watch is not just about aesthetics but also a masterclass in functional design on how the decentralised seconds, numerals, and hands are arranged in a harmonious balance that prioritises legibility without sacrificing beauty.

“The function is the leader, you must find the balance on what is good as the function and then you work on the aesthetic of the movement. Sometimes, a manufacturer can do too much to the movement,” Schneider noted, underscoring the manufacturers’ approach to design where functionality dictates form.

The 7 piece limited Lang & Heyne Friedrich III Remontoir Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition is currently available at Sincere Haute Horlogerie (SHH) boutique at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
