The new GW-9500TLC-1 is a collaboration between Casio G-Shock and Team Land Cruiser Toyota Auto Body; it features a multi-band six radio control, solar-powered illuminator, rugged exterior design, triple sensor (digital compass, barometer/altimeter, and thermometer), and more

What do you look for in a timepiece? For many people, it’s style, durability, and functionality. The new GW-9500TLC-1, the latest collaboration between G-Shock and Team Land Cruiser (TLC) Auto Body, offers all these. Rugged and reliable, the special edition expresses the spirit of challenge that defines TLC, a veteran of the Dakar Rally, considered the toughest race in the world. The piece is based on the earlier edition of MUDMAN GW-9500, outdoor gear known for delivering in the most punishing conditions.

The limited edition model packs a punch in terms of aesthetics and function. From colours to materials, this watch is the dream accessory of any outdoor enthusiast.

The timepiece features a black and red colour scheme inspired by the Land Cruiser 300 GR Sport, the car TLC raced in the Dakar Rally. Ion plating is applied to the metal bezel as part of the overall black look and set off with red accents, including the red line decorating the button at 3 o’clock and side surfaces. The design evokes the toughness of a racing machine capable of delivering in harsh conditions across an approximately 10,000 km course.

A noteworthy design of this timepiece is the sand-coloured band, designed to capture the feel of racing through desert sands. The band is also printed with a black splatter pattern that evokes tracks left by speeding racers. The ion plating in the same brown hue is also applied to the guard for the front button.

G-Shock has taken considerable steps to create this special accessory using renewable organic resources. The key resin components used in the case and band are made with bio-based resin, which can help reduce environmental impact. Recycled materials are also used for the special packaging.

The solid, rugged exterior design features a multi-component structure and an independent front button. Incorporating cut glass with a special glass adhesion method and a Carbon Core Guard structure, the watch has a smaller, slimmer form that delivers durability, operability, and a highly comfortable fit.

The top layer of the LCD provides a graphical compass display, while the bottom layer provides large measurement and time displays. The LCD has been made slimmer to minimise bulk while being dual-layered.

The front button and three direct sensor buttons feature large, easy-to-operate forms designed to keep mud and water out. Cylindrical stainless steel parts protect the buttons, and the button shafts are equipped with gasket fittings to prevent contamination with mud and dust.

“G-SHOCK watches are designed to be tough, durable, and reliable. On top of the high-quality resin, they are also made of stainless steel and sapphire crystal so you can be assured that a G-SHOCK timepiece is long lasting,” says Isabella Concepcion, business development head of CSC Time.

“CASIO is honoured to collaborate once again with the Toyota Land Cruiser Autobody. This latest offering perfectly represents the characteristics of a G-SHOCK [IC12] wearer: resilient, strong and ready to face any challenges,” she concluded.
