The new downsized Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet watch comes in two pink gold models: purple or ivory

Smaller dials are all the rage amongst watch enthusiasts now and brands have been reinterpreting some of their most popular collections to suit slimmer wrists. The latest to hop on the bandwagon is Audemars Piguet with two new 38mm self-winding Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet models.

Previously only available in 41mm and 42mm, the expanded Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet collection can now accommodate slimmer wrists with its 38mm pink gold case that houses an embossed dial in two contemporary hues: a deep purple or radiant ivory. This attractive dial design was achieved by embossing hundreds of tiny holes that move outwards from its centre in a wave-like pattern.

To enhance this lustrous play of light and colour as well as preserve this pattern, the purple and ivory shades of the dials are applied using PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition). The new faceted and polished hour-markers and hands add a nice contrast to the dial, and the hands are also filled with luminescent coating for optimum legibility, making this a great day-to-night companion.

In designing this 38mm Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet, the teams at the manufacture also had to reexamine the proportions of the intricate three-part case to ensure the watch retains the collections’s signature aesthetic codes. The case comprises an octagonal case middle held within an extra-thin bezel and a round caseback. Its refined finishing boasts alternating satin-brushing and polished chamfers and following the collection’s design evolution introduced earlier this year, the crown has shallower but more pronounced indentations for a more stylised look.

These Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet watches are powered by the brand’s latest generation self-winding hour, minute, seconds and date movement, Calibre 5900, which was first launched in 2022 on some 37mm Royal Oak references. Boasting a 60-hour power reserve, the movement is visible through the watch’s sapphire caseback, revealing its 22- carat pink gold oscillating weight and intricate decorations like polished angles, vertical satin brushing, Côtes de Genève, circular graining and chamfering.

Both the purple and ivory models are paired with a “large square scale” alligator strap in a matching colour and fitted with the collection’s new 18-carat pink gold pin buckle engraved with ”Audemars Piguet”.  For a more sporty look, two rubber-coated straps lined with calfskin leather and embellished with a textile pattern in ivory or purple are also available in boutiques.
