Van Cleef & Arpels has unveiled its latest Rose de Noël creations just in time for the holiday season
We often associate flowers with the season of spring, but there are some special varieties that bloom in the depths of winter. This festive season, Van Cleef & Arpels is celebrating the beauty of one such winter flower, the Christmas rose, with its latest collection of Rose de Noël jewellery.
Named after the Christmas rose, the Rose de Noël collection was first introduced by the French luxury jewellery house in 1970 and has since evolved into a signature representation of Van Cleef & Arpels’ floral inspirations. Reflecting the bohemian style that was prevalent across various artistic disciplines during that time, the Rose de Noël’s distinctive design is marked by the flower’s domed corollas, gold and diamond pistils, as well as myriad combinations of ornamental stones and organic materials.

While the original Rose de Noël was made in yellow gold and coral, over the years the collection has seen many variations with different colours and materials such as turquoise, onyx, wood and diamonds.
This year’s additions include four new creations crafted from luxurious materials, fitting for accessorising a festive outfit. There are two pendant necklaces: one made in white gold with grey mother-of-pearl petals and diamonds set on the pistils, and the other made in yellow gold with turquoise petals and diamonds set on the pistils. To match these pendants, two pairs of earrings in the same two combinations of materials join the Rose de Noël collection.

These Rose de Noël compositions reflect Van Cleef & Arpels’ expertise and commitment to the quality of its precious stones and materials. The maison’s Stone Department has a strict selection criteria that prioritises proportion and quality for each creation. Here, the materials were carefully selected to enliven the blooms; grey mother-of-pearl was chosen for its uniform colour and soft iridescence that shifts from green to pink, while the turquoise introduces a vivid spectrum of blue hues. Each stone is carefully cut and polished to enhance its brilliance before being assembled into harmonious sets of six for pendants, or twelve for earrings, to ensure uniformity in its colour.
The maison’s exquisite craftsmanship extends beyond stone selection; each piece undergoes a rigorous assembly process that involves handwork by skilled artisans. The attention to detail is paramount, ensuring that every element—from the polishing of metals to the setting of stones—meets the highest standards of excellence. The result is a collection of precious and voluminous blooms, each reflecting the vitality of flora even in the heart of winter.
