The mother-of-two unveils the crowning jewel of her vault: a Chaumet Joséphine Valse Impériale tiara that she dreams of passing down to her daughter on her wedding day
Just over a month ago, the Tatler Ball 2024 presented the paradisiacal concept of “Xanadu” at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore. In this gathering of greats, where visions of a greater world were celebrated, guests came dressed in their black tie’s best in a utopian palette. Shining bright in a canary yellow gown was Fanty Soenardy, a familiar fixture on the social circuit best known for her glamour, and her generosity. And crowning her ensemble was something even more scintillating—a tiara, by the house of Chaumet.
This Chaumet Joséphine Valse Impériale tiara was a present for her 25th wedding anniversary, which she and her husband celebrated a week after the ball. “To mark this milestone, I thought we should get something special—not just for me, but for our family,” the mother-of-two muses. “I love the concept of family heirlooms; how these pieces represent a piece of our family’s history, and can continue telling those stories for us as they get passed down the generations. The tiara not only encapsulates our love as a couple of 25 years, but is also a piece my daughter can wear for her very own wedding—eventually adding yet another great love story to this family jewel,” she adds.

A passionate watch and jewellery collector with a penchant for rarefied, statement-making pieces, Soenardy describes the journey to getting this tiara as a “beautiful journey”. Starting with a Parisian escapade with her daughter, Louisa, where they got to take a closer look at Chaumet’s creations, discovering the maison’s archives, history of high jewellery and the masterful craftsmanship behind it all. Upon returning back home to Singapore, she made the decision to get a tiara, preferring to purchase it here—as with all of her jewellery—citing close relationships with the brand teams and, “if anything happens to a piece, I can always reach them quickly to resolve it”.
A vision of ethereal beauty, the Joséphine Valse Impériale tiara draws inspiration from Chaumet’s first major client and muse: Empress Joséphine. Channelling her timeless elegance and couture spirit is an elevated sweep design in white gold that’s paved with 208 brilliant-cut and 15 pear-shaped diamonds, with an approximately 2.50-carat pear-shaped diamond at its peak. It sits ultra-comfortably—and securely—on Soenardy’s head thanks to the signature Chaumet fil-couteau technique, which enables the metal arch of this high jewellery piece to optically disappear in order to let the seemingly suspended stones shine. “It took just two fittings and about three to four months for this to be made, just in time for the Tatler Ball too”, she adds.

Another reason why Soenardy chose a tiara from Chaumet is the maison’s design flexibility. Striking a deft balance between grandeur, modernity and versatility, these sophisticated diadems are shaped and fashioned in a way that they can be worn both to a coronation or an intimate soiree. “The level of intricate details that have gone into making this tiara, and fitting it perfectly to my head, has made acquiring this treasure a real pleasure. Also, this piece speaks to me in a way that a necklace, watch or ring can’t—it has its own energy, which is truly magical”, Soenardy enthuses.
Her approach to collecting is informed by a lifetime of learning—and sharing. She has spent years travelling the world with her family visiting jewellery houses, meeting artisans, and discovering the most precious stones, which have all honed her eye for sparklers. So much so that her children have become budding enthusiasts themselves, and have the privilege of delving into their parents’ vault when the occasion calls for it.
“I love how jewellery is an expression of its time, yet it is also timeless. I see jewellery as an investment in beauty, in history, and in the legacy I want to leave behind..and this tiara is something I’ve dreamed of passing down,” she expresses, spoken like a true queen mother.
