Forget Lady Gaga and Adam Driver—it’s the jewellery that stars in this gloriously decadent crime drama

Ridley Scott's House of Gucci, the true-crime story of Italian socialite Patrizia Reggiani’s marriage to Maurizio Gucci, a grandson of Gucci’s founder who ousted his relatives from the business to become CEO in 1992, is as much defined by its glamorous jewellery as its larger-than-life characters.

Played by Hollywood heartthrob Adam Driver, Gucci may have made headlines for his stylishly studious aviator glasses but its Reggiani, played by Lady Gaga (Oscar-nominated for her moving performance in A Star Is Born), who steals the show for those that enjoy watching diamonds (and lashings of yellow gold!) on screen.

British costume designer Janty Yates envisioned Reggiani, who plotted her cheating husband’s murder, in handfuls of chunky statement pieces that sparkle with diamonds.

The jewels worn by Reggiani, who was nicknamed “Lady Gucci” and “Black Widow” following the murder of her husband who was gunned down in the foyer of his Via Palestro office in 1995, is cleverly used to showcase her spectacular rise and fall throughout House of Gucci, from her modest childhood in northern Italy to her dogged pursuit of the Gucci heir.
