A closer look at La Joie Jewellery’s world of exceptional gemstones, fine craftsmanship and personal stories at If Only KL

A fine gemstone has a way of holding the eye. Beyond its brilliance, there is the depth of its colour, the precision of its cut and the way it catches the light, each detail revealing something of the stone’s character.

It was this appreciation for the finer details that brought couples, collectors and jewellery aficionados together at If Only KL on September 24, where La Joie Jewellery hosted an intimate evening celebrating fine gems and craftsmanship. More than an opportunity to discover the maison’s creations, the gathering offered a closer look at the people and passion behind the brand.

Founded by father-and-daughter duo Jean and Jessica Nasr, the Singapore-headquartered maison is built on their shared passion for exceptional gemstones, with a collection spanning distinctive one-of-a-kind pieces and more accessible designs. Jean brings decades of experience in the jewellery industry, including his time as Managing Director of Mouawad Singapore, while Jessica offers a contemporary perspective. Together, they have shaped La Joie around a shared appreciation for fine jewellery and a personal approach to selecting and creating each piece.

The evening offered guests an introduction to La Joie’s collection, with canapés served as they explored the pieces at their own pace. From striking gemstones to more delicate creations, the jewellery showcased the maison’s eye for colour, craftsmanship and detail. Guests then heard from Jean and Jessica, who shared the story behind La Joie and their journey in building the maison together.

The conversation continued over a four-course dinner, with guests settling in around the table while the jewellery remained a focal point of the evening. Between courses, there was time to return to the collection, take a closer look at individual pieces and discover the gemstones that set La Joie apart.

Among the collection’s defining characteristics is its use of colour. Alongside diamonds, La Joie works with vivid emeralds, aquamarines, coloured sapphires, Paraiba tourmalines and tanzanites, each bringing its own character to a piece. The variety reflects the maison’s appreciation for gemstones beyond the traditional diamond, with the stone itself often taking centre stage.

This emphasis on the gemstone also informs La Joie’s bespoke offering, where the process begins with selecting a stone before its setting and design are developed around it. Rather than starting with a finished design, clients can build a piece around a gemstone that speaks to them, making the process a personal one. Whether commissioned to mark a milestone or chosen simply for its individual appeal, the result is jewellery with a story of its own.

By the end of the evening, the appeal of La Joie lay not only in the craftsmanship of its creations, but also in the thought that goes into finding the right gemstone. After all, sometimes the most memorable piece is the one that makes you pause, look a little closer and imagine making it your own.
