In the heart of the City of Light, Paris, Le Grand Dîner du Louvre unfolds as a celebration of haute couture and dazzling high jewellery, a union of two of France’s most revered art forms.
No sooner had the Oscars red carpet been rolled away than the fashion world turned its gaze to Paris, where the Fall/Winter 2025 Fashion Week is now in full swing. On the evening of 4 March, the Louvre Museum shimmered to life with the Le Grand Dîner du Louvre, a landmark occasion heralding the Museum’s inaugural fundraising fashion exhibition, Louvre Couture: Art and Fashion—Statement Pieces. The showcase brings together more than 100 works by 45 legendary designers, from Christian Dior and Alexander McQueen to Chanel and beyond.
Hailed as the “French Met Gala”, Le Grand Dîner du Louvre drew an elite crowd of fashion icons, among them Naomi Campbell, Gigi Hadid, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and renowned Asian stars including Jisoo of BlackPink, Gemma Chan, and Michelle Yeoh. The evening was a feast for the eyes not only for the couture creations but also for the remarkable high jewellery pieces that adorned the guests. This event also marked a significant moment for the Louvre, as it unveiled its first-ever haute couture fashion exhibition.

Jisoo turned heads with her timeless elegance in a black Dior evening gown, its understated silhouette elevated by a heart-shaped neckline folded like delicate origami. The pièce de résistance of the “Earthquake” singer’s ensemble was Cartier’s Panthère Canopée necklace from the Nature Sauvage collection. A signature leopard, Cartier’s emblem since the 1930s, crouches among foliage, exquisitely rendered in white gold and diamonds, as if guarding a mesmerising 26.53-carat Ceylon sapphire.

Gigi Hadid made an unforgettable impression at Le Grand Dîner du Louvre in a sweeping gown woven from three contrasting metallic hues, arranged seemingly at random to striking effect. But it was her bold approach to jewellery that truly captivated. Around her neck, she layered a white gold tennis necklace by Anita Ko with a shorter gold evil eye pendant, and below, a statement heart-shaped locket in gold that grazed her sternum, an artful mix of pieces that felt both personal and deliberate. Oversized metal earrings completed the look, speaking to Gigi’s spirited embrace of eclectic elegance.

Peeking through her raven waves were Panthère de Cartier earrings in white gold, set with emeralds, onyx and diamonds, tiny panthers seemingly prowling in shadow. The centrepiece of her look was a dramatic Pompon necklace, crafted in 18k white gold and emeralds, a singular piece valued at USD 30,000. It lent her an air of untamed refinement, effortlessly fusing luxury with a touch of wilderness.

Eschewing elaborate jewellery, he opted for a single refined accent: the Juste Un Clou brooch in white gold, a quiet yet distinctive detail on his sharply tailored suit. On his wrist, the Tank de Cartier Must watch, featuring a jet-black leather strap and polished steel case, added a timeless finishing touch, underscoring his appreciation for enduring classics and understated style.

Keira Knightley deepened her long-standing love affair with Chanel at Le Grand Dîner du Louvre in a dramatic black velvet gown from the house’s Fall/Winter 2024 haute couture collection, a creation requiring 350 hours of craftsmanship. Around her neck, the Comète Couture necklace, a tribute to the shooting star motif that Chanel introduced in 1932, glittered with diamonds, arranged to evoke a constellation cascading across her collarbone. The Black Doves star completed her look with the Comète Spinelle ring, where a vivid red spinel stone pulsed with a sense of passion and power.

Doechii dazzled in a rich earthy-yellow creation from Valentino’s Spring 2025 haute couture collection, Vertigineux, a sculpted princess gown embroidered with luminous detailing. With such an elaborate design, her jewellery choices were intentionally restrained. Petite bud-shaped earrings and slender rings in white and yellow gold added polish without competing for attention. Her look was a study in harmony, proving that true elegance is found in self-assured restraint and the art of knowing when less truly is more.
