Declan Chan has spent the last few months attending show after show across Europe—and even found time to jet to the Maldives to recover. The stylist, influencer and Tatler fashion correspondent looks back on his glamorous travels
Almost three years into the pandemic, the fashion world is ready to embrace life under the new normal.
There were some truly spectacular moments during spring-summer 2023 fashion week—like Valentino’s show-stopping extravaganza on the Spanish Steps in Rome, as well as Kim Kardashian and Nicole Kidman’s surprise appearances on the Balenciaga runway.
Meanwhile, as travel restrictions eased around Asia, familiar faces based in the region have returned to the scene. Among them is Hong Kong stylist and influencer and Tatler fashion correspondent Declan Chan, who has spent the summer gallivanting between exclusive shows across exotic locales.
In his own words, Chan recalls his favourite moments of the season.

Ann Demeulemeester Exhibition at Pitti Immagine Uomo 102, Florence, June 2022
Ann Demeulemeester was a guest of honour at Pitti Immagine Uomo 102, a prestigious trade fair for men’s clothing and accessories, which took place at the historic Stazione Leopolda during a heatwave in Florence. The Belgian designer was originally slated to feature in the show’s 2021 edition—and this delay was worth it. The exhibition, which also marked the 40th anniversary of the label, showcased 40 looks from her archive collections, plus six by the brand’s design team. The show is accompanied by a soundtrack from her past fashion shows—plus CDs she still treasures, from artists like Sonic Youth and Patti Smith. This was a particularly touching fashion moment for me.
