Tatler unveils the theme of the Tatler Ball 2026, A Constellation of Brilliance, with an intimate styling workshop at enVie de Pois at Ion Orchard, exploring how light, luminosity and individuality can translate into fashion
What does brilliance look like when expressed through fashion? At an intimate styling workshop held at enVie de Pois at Ion Orchard, Tatler’s editor-in-chief Dana Koh and resident fashion monster Adriel Chiun offered one answer as Tatler unveiled the theme of the Tatler Ball 2026: ‘A Constellation of Brilliance’.

The theme begins with an idea close to Tatler’s heart: cultural luminosity. It is a quality that manifests itself in myriad ways, from thought leaders shaping conversations and changemakers creating meaningful societal impact to cultural figures, creatives and individuals whose contributions illuminate the world around them. Brilliance, after all, is not necessarily measured by how brightly one shines, but by how much light one brings to others. Individually, each possesses a particular brilliance. Together, they form a constellation.

For the evening, that philosophy found its most immediate expression through clothes. Drawing from the collections available at enVie de Pois, Chiun curated a selection of gowns exploring luminosity in its many manifestations: crystals scattering light across the body, sequins flickering with movement, metallic embroideries tracing intricate patterns and sumptuous surfaces designed to catch, refract and redirect light.

Yet sparkle, as Chiun explained during the workshop, was never intended as decoration for decoration’s sake. Light behaves differently according to the surface it encounters. A crystal scatters it; a sequin interrupts it; metallic thread sends it somewhere new. Once worn, however, another element enters the equation: the woman herself. Her personality, presence and particular way of inhabiting a garment transform something beautiful into something entirely her own.

It is this relationship between wearer, garment and light that offers perhaps the most compelling sartorial interpretation of A Constellation of Brilliance. Rather than prescribing a literal dress code of stars, celestial motifs or head-to-toe glitter, the theme invites guests to consider how they might catch the light and, more importantly, how they might hold it. Fashion, at its most expressive, is never merely about appearances. It is a visual language through which we articulate identity, individuality and, occasionally, a delicious disregard for convention.

Above There is no singular way to shine. At enVie de Pois in Ion Orchard, guests discover the many interpretations of Tatler Ball 2026’s A Constellation of Brilliance, where personal expression takes precedence over any prescribed dress code
Through the workshop, Chiun demonstrated how luminosity could be approached at different intensities. For some, brilliance might mean an unabashedly sequinned evening gown that commands a room before its wearer has even crossed it. For others, it might reveal itself in the subtle gleam of embroidery, a flash of crystal or a metallic surface that comes alive only with movement. There is no singular formula for radiance, just as there is no singular definition of style.

The distinction is important. Personal style is most compelling when clothes amplify rather than overwhelm the individual wearing them. Against the refined surrounds of enVie de Pois at Ion Orchard, the evening also offered guests an opportunity to reconsider the relationship between dressing for an occasion and dressing for oneself. The two, Chiun suggested, need never be mutually exclusive.
And perhaps therein lies the true spirit of A Constellation of Brilliance. A constellation derives its beauty not from one star outshining another, but from the relationships between them. As Tatler Ball 2026 approaches, the invitation is not simply to dress brilliantly, but to celebrate the very qualities that make each of us shine. Because the most extraordinary thing one can bring into a room has never been the dress. It is the person wearing it.
