In Xanadu, there is no such thing as vertigo! We continue the unveiling of the 42nd Tatler Ball theme at Christian Louboutin
Last Thursday (September 19), Tatler Singapore’s fashion and branded content editor Adriel Chiun hosted an exclusive styling workshop at Christian Louboutin’s boutique in Singapore which also served as the perfect stage to continue the unveiling of the much-anticipated theme for the Tatler Ball 2024: Xanadu. In the presence of Singapore’s most fashionable society swans, the workshop served as a sartorial exploration and an invitation to envision a utopia where fantasy and reality converge in the most glamorous ways.
Tatler’s Xanadu is a dreamlike realm of elegance, beauty, and unapologetic indulgence—sentiments that deeply resonate with the haute craftsmanship of Christian Louboutin heels. Known for their unmistakable red soles and sculptural silhouettes, every Louboutin creation is a manifestation of a modern-day Eden. They are wearable art, designed to transport the wearer into a state of heightened glamour, much like the promise of paradise itself.

As the workshop commenced, Chiun spoke about the significance of fashion in embodying the ethereal and aspirational. For centuries, the idea of paradise has been interwoven with the world of art, where it often represents an idealised state of grace, beauty, and transcendence. In fashion, we mirror this through clothing and accessories that enhance the wearer’s sense of self, elevating them beyond the everyday. Christian Louboutin heels, with their refined craftsmanship and alluring design, are the epitome of this ethos.

The workshop placed paramount importance on how the intricate details of Louboutin’s designs echo the theme of Xanadu. Each pair of heels is a study in contrasts—striking yet delicate, bold yet refined—reflecting the dual nature of paradise as both serene and sublime.

The red sole, instantly symbolises passion, power, and allure—qualities that Tatler celebrates —grounding the wearer while allowing them to walk in a state of unapologetic confidence. These heels are not just shoes, they are portals into another world, much like how fashion allows one to step into a paradise of their own making.
The Louboutin heel also serves as the ultimate foundation, an anchor that holds the fantastical elements of the outfit together. Whether pairing a flowing, ethereal gown with a towering stiletto or complementing a structured, modern ensemble with a more playful design, these shoes offer versatility that mirrors the infinite possibilities within the concept of paradise.
Throughout the workshop, guests were reminded of key elements that defined the styling for the 42nd Tatler Ball theme. Paradise is as much about texture as it is about silhouette. Think rich fabrics that evoke the lushness of an untouched secret garden—silks, satins, and brocades that drape sensuously across the body.

Accessories should nod to paradise’s inherent abundance: gilded details that scintillate, and jewels that catch the light like dew on petals. And at the heart of it all, the Louboutin heel should ground the look with its structured elegance, offering a hint of the sublime even amidst maximalist expression.
Like our vision of the Tatler Ball 2024, where it is more than aesthetics we are advocating, our pitstop at Christian Louboutin emphasizes rarity, aspiration, artistry, and the timeless pursuit of beauty. And especially when a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, why don’t you embark on your sartorial odyssey to Xanadu with a pair of vertiginous heels?
