Cover Sunset in Rio: A private shopping soirée with Tatler Singapore and Christian Louboutin

What went down at an exclusive night of glamour and style as Tatler members explored Christian Louboutin’s latest summer-inspired collection

On a balmy Thursday evening in Singapore, Tatler community members were treated to an exclusive private shopping experience at the Christian Louboutin boutique at Ion Orchard. The event showcased the brand’s latest “Sunset in Rio” collection, a vibrant homage to the iconic Brazilian city and the designer’s love of travel.

Upon arrival at the boutique, guests were welcomed with champagne and bespoke Don Julio cocktails, before Tatler Singapore’s features editor Nafeesa Saini walked them through the brand’s rich history—highlighting the serendipitous creation of the iconic red sole in 1992. “The same red hue envelopes this store, a constant reminder of empowerment, freedom and independence,” she continued. It also served as the perfect background for our Tatler community to discover the latest “Sunset in Rio” range, which captures the essence of a summer state of mind, with designs inspired by the sultry, saturated colours of Latin beaches.

Three main hues define the collection: Calipso Pink; Pollen Yellow; and Jacaranda Purple, altogether evoking the imagery of poolside cocktails and golden beaches. While these vibrant shades quickly bring to mind the sultry palettes of Latin beaches and festivities in Rio de Janeiro, Saini advised that this line is designed to suit just about anywhere tropical and hot—south of France, the Bahamas, or even Sentosa.

While Louboutin is renowned for its sky-high heels—there’s no better way to show off those signature red soles— the “Sunset in Rio” range champions the brand’s versatility. The sporty Kate heels, crafted from Napa leather with a slingback strap and kitten heel, offer both style and comfort. For those preferring flats, the Mamadrague design pays tribute to a collaboration with Jean Paul Gaultier from the 1990s, a refined slice of history.

Our cherished guests flitted around the store indulging in delectable canapés and perusing the vivid collection, Christian Louboutin stylists were on hand to regale them with snippets of history behind the Maison’s iconic elements retained in the summer edit. The Tatoosh spike heel maintains Louboutin’s signature edgy aesthetic, while the shimmering strass crystal accents feature a new ombré effect, mimicking a beautiful Rio sunset over the sea. This effect was particularly striking on the Sandaloo and Moc loafers.

For men, the Astroloubi sneaker stood out as a highlight of the season with a fresh take on casual luxury. Inspired by ’90s basketball shoes, it comes in the collection’s sunset-inspired palette and is a key piece of the season.
