The South Korean actress was a surprise star of Paris Fashion Week this year—here are our favourite outfits

Song Hye-Kyo is no stranger to the spotlight. The Korean actress has established herself as a star through her roles in popular drama series including Full House, Descendants of the Sun (which she starred in alongside her ex-husband Song Joong-Ki), and most recently, Now, We Are Breaking Up.

While her fans may be used to seeing her on the screen, Song dominated the streets of Paris this year. The South Korean starlet made appearances at Fashion Week, sitting front row at Bottega Veneta and Fendi shows and rubbing shoulders with celebrities like Tessa Thompson and Lee Min-Ho.

While her successful acting career (and massive endorsement deals) has made her one of the highest-paid celebrities in South Korea, Song’s recent sartorial choices have made it clear: she can be a fashion girl, too. Below, we take a look at her best outfits of the year.

French Girl Chic

On the streets of Paris, Song blended right in with this laid-back ensemble that showcased her flair for layering. Her outfit consisted of basics such as a white crop top, blue jeans and box-fresh white sneakers, but Song elevated the look with a cool camo green bomber jacket. Following the neutral colour palette, Song also opted for a white Fendi Baguette bag crafted from soft nappa leather.

Monochrome Minimalism

Think Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner are the only ones who could successfully pull off a vest? Think again. During a private tour of Chaumet’s jewellery workshop in Place Vendôme, Song looked sophisticated in a tailored white waistcoat that she matched with her trousers. Song would have looked radiant in the monochromatic outfit alone, but she added a sparkling touch via a pair of Chaumet Joséphine Aigrette earrings with diamonds.

Statement Shorts

Song matched the cool and casual vibe of New York when she attended Fendi’s 25th anniversary fashion show in September. While her striped blazer meant business, her matching high-waisted shorts toned down the formality of her tailored outfit—all while flaunting her legs. Song didn’t overlook the little details, either, choosing a Fendi Peekaboo handbag that matched the check pattern of her ensemble.

Dramatic Glamour

Song is a Chaumet ambassador for a reason: she simply knows how to wear jewellery well. Nothing made a better case for her ability to accessorise than her appearance at the Paris launch of Ondes et Merveilles de Chaumet, the French jeweller’s latest high jewellery collection. The actress looked like regal in a black V-neck tank top paired with a full tulle skirt, contrasting the jewel on her neck: Chaumet’s Gulfstream necklace. The high jewellery piece is marked by a 26-carat Colombian emerald and is set with sapphires and tourmalines, all of which looked especially vivid thanks to the simplicity of Song’s refined outfit.

Timeless Elegance

At the Ondes et Merveilles de Chaumet event in Seoul, Song once again flaunted her elegant taste when she wore an off-shoulder gown by South Korean fashion label Avouavou. The pale green dress nicely complemented the orange-red spinels of her Chaumet ‘Ports of Call’ necklace, which was also embellished with blue sapphires, tourmalines and diamonds.
