The Korean actress makes the case for wearing Bridgerton-style puff sleeves on your wedding day for a romantic bridal look
Gong Hyo-Jin has finally lifted the veil on her wedding dress.
The Korean actress tied the knot with singer Kevin Oh at a private ceremony in New York on October 11, but she only offered a full look at her bridal gown on Instagram today.
For her special day, the It’s Okay, That’s Love star chose a dress that is as unconventional as her acting roles. Specifically, she wore the Rosalie ballgown by New York designer Danielle Frankel. The dreamy design features an empire waistline and puff sleeves. It’s crafted with darted and hand-twisted organza, layered on top of a wave-pattern lace skirt to create volume.

Gong’s bridal look was light and breezy—perfect for the seaside setting of her wedding. To top off her ensemble, the actress opted for a pair of black cat-eye sunglasses, a beaded necklace, and a simple short tulle veil.
Those accessories alone are worth writing home about, but it’s the puff sleeves of her wedding dress that stand out the most. It isn’t often we see a modern bride choosing to wear sleeves at all; the most conventional bridal silhouettes are off-shoulder or simply sleeveless.
Thanks to its puffy sleeves, Gong’s dress has a certain magic to it. You can trace the design detail to the 1980s, when puffy sleeves were big (literally), or even further back to the Regency era. Bridgerton has shown us that styles like Gong’s bridal look were very much in fashion at the turn of the 19th century.
In other words, puff sleeves are timeless. They’re also irresistibly romantic. If you’re hoping to look and feel like a princess when you walk down the aisle, look below for some puff-sleeve wedding dresses that will make that dream come true.
