These are the must-have pieces you need in your wardrobe to stand out this season

The season has just begun and Prada's fall/winter 2022 collection is already a hit among the world's most fashionable crowd, including TWICE's Sana, Mei Nagano, and Sheila Atim, as they walk the streets of Milan for the city's highly-anticipated fashion week. Below, Tatler breaks down the best pieces for men and women that you need to stay ahead of the trend.

This season, co-creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons are elevating fashion basics with delicate embroidery, delicate materials, and elements of eveningwear. Conventionally masculine pieces are interrupted with bursts of femininity, and vice versa, offering fluidity and flexibility to achieve the height of self-expression.

A highlight is the reinvention of simple white tank, punctuated with the Italian luxury house's trademark triangular logo. On the runway, it was left untucked as the base under steel mesh dresses and paired with another season favourite, the layered miniskirt with alluring embroidered mesh inserts.

Other highlights include the intensely elegant cady dress with a structured neckline and detachable jewelled necklace with logo, as well as the intarsia knit turtleneck wool sweaters in colours that embrace Prada's iconic 'ugly chic' aesthetic, such as combinations of bright purple and orange and green and yellow.

The Prada Supernova handbag is another It-bag in the making, with a brand new trapezoid shape juxtaposed with a feminine curved top that shows the heritage and expert leather craftsmanship of the Italian fashion house since it was founded in 1913. For a modern touch, the Spazzalato leather is also hand-sprayed with pigment for a 3D effect to emphasise this exciting silhouette.

For those who are travelling to colder climates, the unisex oversized shearling leather jacket is a must-have. Combining form and function, this winter essential—available in black and maple brown—is carved out at the neck and back for an architectural finish.

Meanwhile, the collection for men continues this stylish functionality, offering traditional workwear silhouettes in pastel pink silk and neon yellow glossy leather. The bold reinvention of Re-Nylon in bright prints also appear on waterproof parkas as well as short-sleeve shirts and bermuda.
