Indulging in the rare luxury of uninterrupted time together at Paragon, Belinda Chua and Sabrina Ho take off their work hats and go shopping at Prada and Miu Miu before pampering their skin and senses at Adeva Spa
For Belinda Chua and Sabrina Ho, the lines between work and personal life often blur. This is because the mother and daughter have a unique relationship—one that extends to their professional lives working together with Chua as the founder of Flower Diamond and Ho, as the design and marketing specialist in the family business.
That means they spend a significantly great amount of time together, at home and at the office, typically entrenched in their first loves: the fine filigree of gemstones. “We’re always talking about work—it’s inevitable. So we need to consciously make time to spend time as exactly who we are to each other: mother and daughter”, said Ho.
So to spend some quality mother-and-daughter time, and to indulge their second love, fashion, we took the gracious pair out to Paragon for a well-deserved day of leisure one breezy Friday in May.
As Paragon Prestige members, they started their day with exclusive access to the Paragon Club Members’ Lounge and immediately said hi to friends—Odile Benjamin and husband Douglas, CEO of FJ Benjamin, the fashion retailer and distributor behind Avenue on 3, a multi-label lifestyle concept store that takes up a whole section on the mall’s third floor.
The rest of the afternoon saw Chua and Ho traipsing through the mall perusing the wide selection of luxury fashion and lifestyle options, before zooming in on Prada and Miu Miu’s eclectic fashion spirit and the expansive collections straight from the runways in store. Here, they offered each other fashion advice, a role reversal from their typical professional interactions, finding joy in these small moments of shared indulgence.

Each of them style savants in their own right, it was inspiring to see both mother and daughter find ensembles from both brands that suit their fashion sensibilities. Always exuding an air of elegance with an affinity for bold accents, Chua pulled off Miuccia Prada’s ubiquitous brand of minimalist-yet-avant garde with incredible ease, from a deco-inspired embroidered velvet dress to a structured blazer with exaggerated shoulders. Ho, on the other hand, is much more experimental, having explored edgier stylings in her more recent fashion era, and carried off a casual, colourful T-shirt and jeans combination from Miu Miu, just as well as she did an ultra delicate pale pink straight-lined dress from Prada, crafted with four layers of gazar and voile.

Following an afternoon of stylish pursuits, the pair retreated up to the fifth floor to Adeva Spa for a pampering session. Paragon Club members can enjoy up to 15 per cent off Adeva Spa skincare products, as well as other shopping privileges at participating stores.
Over a spot of ginger tea to ease them into the wellness treatments that awaited, they engaged in a conversation free from business talk—well, almost—sharing an endearing exchange of how they continuously learn from and admire each other for their work ethic, creativity and emotional resilience; and reminisced cherished memories of growing up, together. “You taught me that small things can make a big impact, and I’ve applied that to every aspect of my life and work”, Ho shyly expressed, alluding to the art of jewellery as the crowning final touch, and how she’s been encouraged to always “treat others how you want to be treated”. “The greatest gift you’ve given me, as a daughter, is your unwavering love and support,” Chua ensued, “and I couldn’t be more proud of both the woman you’ve become, and how you’ve taken on more responsibility in the family business, which makes me feel so much more at ease.”

Revelling in Adeva Spa’s serene environment, they are then led to their treatment room where skilled therapists work their magic, melting away the tension and fatigue accumulated from their demanding roles as businesswomen. Adeva Spa has been in the business of well-being for decades, and offers a holistic curation of facial and body therapies that’s garnered them multiple awards—all with the goal of deeply alleviating body aches and knotted muscles, rejuvenating skin, and soothing psyches.
As the day drew to a close, Chua and Ho left Paragon feeling refreshed and relaxed—the result of a rare luxury of uninterrupted time together to reconnect with each other, and with themselves.
