Fresh off her stunning Cannes Film Festival debut, IU is the talk of the town again. The South Korean musician and actress is officially Gucci’s new global brand ambassador, joining Squid Game actor Lee Jung-jae and Hometown Cha Cha Cha actress Shin Min-a.

IU, whose real name is Lee Ji-eun, has had a long-term partnership with the Italian fashion house, often posting pictures of herself donning Gucci bags and clothing on her Instagram.

At this year’s Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony, IU wore a Gucci sage green tulle crewneck gown with sheer sleeves. The piece also has a lace rebrodé petal detail on the cuffs, a sequin flower and crystal-embellished skirt, beaded neckline detail and an ivory silk Duchesse belt.

The actress earned raves for her performance as a young mother in Hirokazu Kore-eda’s first Korean film, Broker. The praises serve as a major breakthrough for the actress in cinema following her successful music career and powerhouse lead roles in television.

The movie received a 12-minute standing ovation after its premiere which is the longest for any Korean film. She was considered a strong contender for the Best Actress award which eventually went to Holy Spider’s Zar Amir Ebrahimi.
