This is the giant art installation’s third stop as part of the brand’s Burberry Landscapes project
If you’ve passed by Orchard Road these few days, you would have noticed a new addition to our vibrant shopping district. The giant Burberry Olympia bag has made its appearance outside Ion Orchard, the third stop in the British brand’s Burberry Landscapes initiative, where they are taking over cityscapes. Previously, the giant bag has also made appearances in London, UK, and Dubai, UAE. Keeping in mind its commitment to sustainability, the giant bag installation has been made sustainably, and all materials used in the construction of the installation will be recycled and repurposed after the tour.
The Burberry Olympia is the latest icon to join Burberry’s stable of It bags, and was launched earlier this year on May 18 with a campaign starring FKA twigs, Kendall Jenner and Shygirl. Its sculptural shape was inspired by the Kensington Olympia—a grand exhibition space in West London that was completed in 1886, and the setting of Burberry’s fall/winter 2020 runway, where the bag made its debut.
“When designing the Olympia, I was thinking about creating the perfect form of a handbag—something that could capture the essence of femininity,” said Riccardo Tisci, chief creative officer of Burberry.

In addition to the giant Olympia bag installation at Ion Orchard, Burberry will also be holding a ‘World of Olympia’ pop-up highlighting the star bag. The bag is available in several colourways from warm tan, black and burgundy to pale blue, warm sand and deep orange, and comes in mini, small and medium sizes.
Three colourways—vanilla, primrose pink and heather melange—from the winter collection have also been launched exclusively in store in tandem with the Olympia bag installation.
