Dior’s global ambassador for fashion and beauty, Jisoo from Blackpink, arrived in Paris for the maison’s Spring-Summer 2022 collection. Here are some of the best parts of her trip

The City of Love and Light welcomed one of the world’s most famous girl group singers for its spring/summer 2022 collection. Blackpink’s Jisoo found herself in Paris this October 2021 to learn more about Dior’s history and unique savoir-faire. 1. Jisoo speaks French

With the rise of Hallyu, the world has become more acquainted with Korean culture and personalities. Jisoo, who hails from Gunpo, south of Seoul, is a native Korean speaker. Though she and fellow Blackpink members have released songs in English, it was a refreshing moment to hear Jisoo speak a little French—and rightfully so. Parisians are notorious for their love of language, and hearing her say “Bonjour!” (hello) and “À demain” (see you tomorrow) proves how well she embodies her role as a global ambassador for a French brand.

An enviable moment indeed! Jisoo received the iconic Lady Dior bag while touring through the Dior Heritage archive. Surrounded by signature archival pieces of the maison, the Lady Dior bag caught the singer’s eye. It was originally designed in 1995 and offered to Lady Diana herself. “I love this bag,” she said. “I want it.” As such, the maison promptly gifted her with the iconic quilted handbag for her to use.

A Dior Beauty makeup tutorial from Peter Phillips was also on the agenda for Jisoo. The artist showed her how he created Dior’s double eyeliner, a nod to Parisian style in the ’60s. Jisoo also chose some of her favourite products from the Dior Beauty lineup, including a lipstick, shadow, and foundation.

The highlight of her tour, Jisoo arrived at the beautiful Jardin des Tuileries to view the Dior runway. The crowd chanted her name as she arrived in a white polka dot dress. “There were so many beautiful outfits,” she said. “The bright colours and graphic elements really made this year’s fashion show even more dynamic.“ When asked which was her favourite piece, Jisoo pointed to a black minidress with a dainty ribbon tied at the chest.

Before the show, Jisoo had also been given a special preview of the upcoming collection with Maria Grazia Chiuri herself. “I love this collection, it’s so colourful,” she gushed. Grazia Chiuri also gave the audience a sneak peek of upcoming outfits for Jisoo’s future concerts. This included a yellow and pink fringe skirt and a sparkling sandal that the designer described as, “Very light, very colourful. You can dance [in it].”

No trip to Paris is complete without a stopover at the iconic Eiffel Tower. While it is beautiful in the daylight, it truly shines at night, when the lights come on and begin to twinkle. Dressed in a maxi dress and heels, Jisoo stood by the Seine and admired the Eiffel tower before saying, “I will never forget that night. I love Paris.”
