The inspiring pair behind the Aivee Clinic reveal how their continuous commitment to innovation stems from years of medical practice and the constant zeal to move forward
Think back a few years, and it seems like The Aivee Clinic always had its name up in lights; but Drs Aivee and Z Teo would rather think of the success of their beauty empire as a natural progression. Dr Aivee shares, “We started everything from scratch with a small clinic, and then it grew organically without forcing anything. It was not primarily meant to be a business; it was primarily meant to be a practice.”
The couple anecdotally recounts their very first clinic, once named the Aivee Aguilar-Teo The Skin and Laser Clinic. Now larger-than-life, the Aivee Group is an encompassing brand extending well beyond the beauty and aesthetics industry through recently established yet equally flourishing ventures like Aivee Café, Luxuri Pets, Aivee Skin, Keli Devices and A Star Laboratories.

While the brand’s growth is at once a testament to their formidable and inspiring partnership, the Teos claim it’s also simply reflective of their personalities as self-confessed perfectionists. “We’re similar in the sense that we’re not the type of people to relax and be complacent; we always want to make sure that we’re at the forefront of technology and we always want to learn,” Dr Aivee professes. “We feel that [the Aivee Group] is still evolving. There’s so much more that we can do, offer and improve on. We’re always ready for the challenge to become better.”

With utmost passion, Dr Z preaches that “the day that you think you have made it is the day you start going down. When you think you are the best, you start to go down because you don’t innovate; you don’t grow anymore.” Affirming how their constant pursuit to learn from global trade fairs and conferences is a manifestation of attitudes that have been deeply ingrained into them since medical school, he adds, “We know that aesthetics, dermatology and plastic surgery is a field that is constantly changing, so the drive for excellence and the drive to give our patients the best in the field is what makes us fly all around the world to try and get first-hand knowledge.”
As the couple fondly articulated, the Aivee Clinic recently “led the wave” in bringing Sofwave to the country, the latest in non-invasive skin tightening procedures. Joining the clinic’s remarkable array of newest innovations like the Minimally-Invasive Endo-Lift Surgery and the Aivee Thread Lift, The Aivee Clinic Sofwave cements the company as a premier purveyor of cutting-edge technology in aesthetics and luxury wellness.

They will also soon introduce the Picasso Machine, the first Aivee-designed laser device, set to rival the latest laser technologies worldwide and specifically intended to meet the high demands for targeted whitening treatments in the Philippines. With the Aivee Group set to open another clinic by the end of the year, Dr Aivee shares, “We’re hoping we can reach out to more Filipinos, not only in Metro Manila [but in] other major cities in the Philippines and further expand globally if given the opportunity.”

The couple’s inventiveness and their desire to heed to the needs of people were also especially notable during the height of the Covid pandemic. Dr Z states, “First and foremost, we are doctors. So, the first thing that came to our mind when it happened was that we had to try and do something.” What then snowballed from their first resolution to donate their clinic’s supplies to frontliners was a continuous pursuit to adapt, build and innovate the Aivee Group. Their access to medical firms in Singapore allowed them to bring in test kits through Keli Devices, and through their hard work and dedication, they were able to set up their own testing laboratory known as A-Star Laboratories.
Despite years of medical training, the couple admit that this venture was beyond their comfort zones and field of expertise. “We didn’t even know what the new normal was at the time. We didn’t know if there was still an interest in aesthetics. So that was how we adapted,” relays Dr Aivee. Also wanting to keep all their Aivee Group employees whom they endearingly call their family, they had to retrain their staff so they could be equipped for their varying ventures. Dr Aivee shares, “We had to do a lot of studying and learning. Though our clinics were closed, we were working all throughout the pandemic.”
The Aivee Clinic was also finally able to launch Aivee Skin online and deliver prime beauty solutions and devices to people stuck in their homes. “In this way, we were able to meet the demands of our patients and were also able to reach out to other people who were not our patients [as well as people] overseas,” Dr Aivee enthuses. Dr Z adds, “Because the pandemic made everything connected in the digital world, it really pushed us to go to the next stage in the evolution of the [Aivee Group].”

Undoubtedly forging a radiant path in the world of beauty and beyond, the dynamic duo attests to their strength. “Sometimes it gets very hard to separate your personal and work relationship, so you must be able to have a very good foundation. You must make sure that you balance each other out, support each other, and learn to agree to disagree. You must respect each other,” Dr Aivee imparts. Dr Z also shares, “We both have an understanding that for the company to run well, our relationship has to be good because the lifeblood of the company is basically the working dynamics of the two of us.”
While this power couple can only go on to do greater things, Dr Aivee gingerly admits, “Well, we also don’t know what’s next [for the Aivee Group].” She echoes her husband’s laughter, and Dr Z eventually says, “Wherever there’s a need, we can go with the flow. But timeline-wise, we’re not rushing.” Asserting their belief that speed and quantity should always be trumped by assured quality and excellence, Drs Aivee and Z ultimately bring the Aivee Group to the leading edge.
