Two inspiring ladies enlighten us with their insight. Describing how such a shift in outlook can transpire into a beautiful process of rediscovering oneself, passionate yogi and aromatherapy advocate Marilen Elizalde muses, "We have come to realise that, for us to thrive in this day and age, we need to look at what it is to be truly healthy in a different way. We look at the whole being: the physical, the mental and the spiritual aspect of the individual."
Ruled by her mantra to stay mindful in her journey to optimal well-being, Elizalde additionally shares her best-kept secret. "I try to practice moderation in anything and everything I do—in the physical activities I do. the food I eat, and even the social events I attend," she details. "You would need to be mindful of activities you do that focus not only on your physical health, that is diet and exercise, but on your mental and spiritual or emotional health as well. One cannot be truly healthy if his body is not in harmony with his mind and spirit.'

Designer-entrepreneur and fitness enthusiast Joanna Preysler-Francisco agrees with this sentiment, adding how people have become more aware of the importance of holistic wellness and its correlation to having a sense of purpose and something to look forward to. "I think the past few years have been cathartic for everyone on so many levels," she recounts. "Taking care of yourself is often viewed as selfish, but honestly, it is the most selfless act I do every day. I want to be well for those I love. I want to be adventurous, build happy memories with my family and hopefully see my children's children."
Preysler-Francisco resonantly conveys this message through her candid joie de vivre. She energetically relays further: "I have always believed that one begins any journey with baby steps, but after a while, there must be progression and growth. Striding at the beginning of a journey is good focusing only on the step in front of you rather than on the whole staircase but after a while, put your big girl pants on and start taking leaps and bounds! Fear is meant to be overcome, and stretching out of one's comfort zone is the most exhilarating feeling, It has kept me sane and happy throughout this dreadful pandemic.”
