What is your skin type?

Combination skin.

Who or what influenced your skincare routine?

I was definitely influenced by my mom who loved to try different skin creams in the past but I’ve also been heavily influenced by K-beauty and things I watch online. I’ve really learned that everyone’s skin is different and caring for it goes beyond just putting products, it’s really about staying healthy and making sure you’re getting enough rest.

What is your evening skincare routine?

If I’m wearing makeup, I [remove it] using a Shu Uemura cleansing oil. Then I prep my skin by doing a facial wash. It depends on how my skin is that day so it’s a toss-up between Cosrx salicylic acid cleanser or Avene’s milk cleanser. On days my skin feels a bit congested I tone with Cosrx’s two-in-one poreless liquid toner. My next step is applying La Mer’s revitalizing serum, then I moisturize with either Creme de La Mer or Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré. I apply eye serum as well, sometimes I use La Mer’s eye serum or Estee Lauder’s advanced night repair eye serum. Some nights, I add the extra step of applying an extra layer of La Mer’s Concentrate on areas that need calming or healing. It seems long and arduous but I like having that me-time at the end of the day.

What are your holy grail products?

My favourites would have to be Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil, any Cosrx toner, and La Mer le concentrate.

How did you find a skincare routine that works for you?

It was definitely a lot of trial and error. I’ve had really bad reactions to some products so it’s really about finding something that feels good and is gentle on your skin.

What is a skincare hack you think we should know?

Cutting out dairy makes a huge difference in your complexion.

Do you use facemasks?

I used to but I don’t anymore. I find that it doesn’t really have a calming effect on my skin.

Do you have a beauty horror story?

Not really a skincare horror story but I once kept bleaching my hair and dyed it a lot of different colours. It really ruined my hair and it took more than a year of growing it out to get it to normalise again.

How often do you practise skin fasting (a break from skincare)?

I do it more often now than in the past. I used to think we needed to do it religiously all the time but our skin benefits from taking breaks too. I’d say I do it maybe two to three days in a month. It feels good!

What's a skincare rule you've broken that have done wonders to your skin?

Someone once told me to never tug or pull on my skin but I find that a good face massage with a roller or guasha really keeps the skin youthful.
