Explore these iconic Met Gala hairstyles from past years

We’re counting the days to the first Monday of May. Through the years, the Met Gala has grown to become the most talked-about global celebration of fashion, where celebrities, designers and cultural powerhouses arrive in show-stopping looks.

While the attendees’ outfits and makeup always take centre stage, hair plays a crucial supporting role. The right hairdo is able to pull an entire Met Gala look together, or even make a statement on its own. With this year’s theme nodding to Black dandyism and aesthetic expression, we’re expecting the upcoming looks to be as meaningful as they are magnificent.

Until then, let’s revisit some of the most unforgettable Met Gala hairstyles from previous years.
