The Dior Forever foundation hits a turning point in 2022, boasting a new transfer‑proof technology

There are plenty of ways to achieve a beautiful make‑up look—from highlighting the cheekbones to a simple pop of colour on the lips. But what is arguably the most important step is creating a flawless canvas that makes the entire make-up application process a seamless one. While major beauty brands have released different types of foundation alongside various tools to help users easily apply base make-up, Dior has remained focused on perfecting a key product: the long‑wearing Dior Forever foundation.

Created in 2007, Dior Forever is not only the French maison’s first high‑coverage foundation but also its first base make‑up product to combine long‑wearing properties with skincare. Now, 15 years later, the Dior Forever foundation hits a turning point as a new generation of this iconic product is unveiled. Available in 43 shades, the reinvented Dior Forever foundation is as sensorial in texture as before, but elevated to deliver higher resistance to heat, humidity and environmental factors, as well as being transfer‑proof. To demonstrate this, the foundation was evaluated using several instrumental tests in hot, tropical conditions of up to 33C. For the first time, a protocol of new tests in real‑life conditions was also conducted on women who live in busy cities and have active lifestyles.

ICONIC DUO

The next‑gen Dior Forever foundation comes in two variants: Forever, which offers a matte finish, and Forever Skin Glow, which imparts a luminous, lit‑from‑within glow. The all‑new Forever features a no‑transfer technology that promotes ultra‑long wear, so it’s perfect for anyone who prefers a matte foundation that stays on from day to night. It is also easily applied and promises a more even complexion, blurring imperfections and smoothing skin texture at the same time. The Forever Skin Glow is an excellent tool that can help one achieve radiant skin all day. The foundation keeps the skin well hydrated, so it appears healthier and plumped.

Both Forever and Forever Skin Glow were formulated as make‑up with skincare properties, with an 86 per cent floral skincare base that works to protect the skin from external factors such as UV radiation and blue light. “Long‑lasting, caring and beautifying. This new formula is, as close as it gets, a second skin that becomes one with your own,” enthuses Peter Philips, the creative and image director for Dior Makeup.

EARTH‑FRIENDLY

As part of an eco‑design initiative, Dior also reinvented the packaging of its foundation. Today, the bottle is made with up to 40 per cent recycled glass and has a new cap that is produced entirely from recycled plastic. Any presence of plastic was also removed from the paper box it comes in, thereby optimising its recyclability. While 15 years may seem like an extremely long time to spend on developing a new formula for base make‑up, it is clear that Dior is determined to cement the iconic status of its Forever foundation without compromising on its original qualities.
