Luxury house Dior has always had a special relationship with Ancient Greece so for its new Cruise 2022 collection, creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri decided to head straight to the birthplace of sports to hold the presentation.
The runway was set within the historical Panathenaic Stadium in the heart of Athens, a deft blend of heritage and modernity. Needless to say, the collection was powerful and sporty, as it paid tribute to Greece and its rich history.

Peter Philips, creative and image director for Dior Makeup, created a makeup look with a bold eye feature for the Cruise 2022 presentation.
Using the 5 Couleurs Couture Cruise 2022 palette created exclusively for the collection, Philips added pearls at various points of the eyes. Some models wore pearls on the lash line while others walked the runway with just a single pearl nestled in the inner corner of the eye.
“These multiple or discreet pearls add an astonishing touch of light,” Philips said.

EYES
Use the nude, sand and gold tones from the 5 Couleurs Couture Cruise 2022 palette—you can choose to emphasise the peepers by adding pearls. Philips said the combination will allow the eyes to blend the “graphism of the traditional greek eye, or matiasma, with punk insolence”.
Finish the look with a light coat of your darkest mascara to the tips of the upper lashes and brush the brows to tidy them up for a natural effect.

FACE
Philips went for a “natural and luminous complexion” for Cruise 2022 so it’s easy to achieve this in your everyday makeup look.
First, prep the skin by following your usual skincare routine then use a primer such as the Dior Backstage Face & Body Primer 001 Universal to blur and illuminate the complexion.
For a translucent effect, apply a tinted moisturiser or Dior’s Backstage Face & Body Foundation which can adapt to every skin tone. To set the foundation, lightly brush translucent powder all over the face.

LIPS
Philips achieved a natural lip look by using the iconic colour-enhancing lip balm Dior Addict Lip Glow, which comes in several shades. Although the models wore Universal Clear 000, which heightens the natural glow of lips, you can always go for a subtle pop of colour using other shades such as the popular Iconic Pink 001 or even Seoul Scarlet 025 (which is Blackpink Jisoo’s red) for a bold and vibrant glow.

HAIR
The hairstyles seen on the runway were simple and chic. Hair was worn naturally or plaited in long ponytails. Some girls sported accessories in their centre parting or spread throughout the plaits.
