The annual Tala Awards is perhaps one of the most exciting nights for the local beauty scene’s best and brightest. Merz Aesthetics, now alongside Vanguard Aesthetics, gather their partner dermatologists, plastic surgeons, aestheticians, and clinic owners from all over the country for one spectacular celebration of shared successes.
This year’s rendition of the event happens to be the biggest one to date. With the theme “Confidence to Bloom”, the 2023 Tala Awards welcomed guests in ornate Filipiniana-inspired ensembles to The Shangri-La The Fort’s Grand Ballroom last October 5, complete with mesmerising performances, sumptuous dining, and a long list of accolades to give honourees their well-earned flowers.

The evening had to kick off with Ultherapy®, the non-invasive skin lifting procedure that leads Merz Aesthetics’ eminent portfolio. Host Issa Litton invited actress and Ultherapy® ambassador Ellen Adarna Ramsey onstage, delving into how her campaign for the brand conveys their shared views on self-care, authenticity, and empowerment.
“I feel that ‘No Bad Takes’ really embodies this journey, my journey…and it’s my goal to share this kind of confidence, this feeling of empowerment, to everyone,” the charismatic star shares. “The ‘No Bad Takes’ campaign is about achieving your best self without the need to change yourself [or undergo] invasive treatments.”

The confidence champions
The biggest star of the 2023 Tala Awards was undoubtedly The Aivee Clinic, bestowed with the highest Overall 7-Star award. Presented by Ong and Vanguard Aesthetics Chief Executive Officer, Ryan Ng, this prestigious title is granted to a commercial leader in the industry that best exemplifies the mission to empower countless others on their confidence journeys.
Truly a representative of this ideal, The Aivee Clinic took home a total of six awards that evening. Aside from the Overall 7-Star Award, they also received the 7-Star Ultherapy® Transducer Award, 7-Star Merz Pure Anti-Wrinkle Treatment Award, 7-Star Merz Easy Adapt Hyaluronic Acid Filler Award, 5-Star for Ultherapy® Control Unit Award and 3-Star Merz Regenerative Biostimulator.
Dr Aivee and Dr Z Teo graciously accepted their accolades onstage, dedicating it to their team of doctors, nurses, and staff, as well as the patients who have trusted them through the years.

The other big category winners for the night were Luminisce Holistic Skin Innovations and HOO Dermatology, who both accepted the Overall 3-Star Award.
Headed by Dr Kaycee Reyes, Luminisce Holistic Skin Innovations got a total of five titles, including the Overall 3-Star Award, 7-Star Merz Easy Adapt Hyaluronic Acid Filler Award, 5-Star Merz Pure Anti-Wrinkle Treatment Award, 3-Star Merz Regenerative Biostimulator and 3-Star Ultherapy® Transducer Award. Meanwhile, HOO Dermatology headed by HOO Medical Director Dr Stephen Lacson received four: the Overall 3-Star Award, 5-Star Merz Pure Anti-Wrinkle Treatment Award, 3-Star Ultherapy® Transducer Award and 3-Star Ultherapy® Control Unit Award.
