Glass skin—once a trend but now a beauty staple all-over the world. Learn from stars like Lee Min-ho, Kim Ha-neul, and Jeon So-min on how they keep their enviable complexion despite busy schedules
Let’s face it. Looking fresh all day is a task (and talent) often reserved to those who’ve gotten their routines down pat. With the renewed demands of post-pandemic life, it’s easy to get sucked into one meeting after the other. We’re all running around to get things done and sometimes, it’s difficult to take time for oneself.
In a monumental launch hosted by Merz Aesthetics®, members of the press and select guests got to hear from Ultherapy® ambassadors: Kim Ha-neul, Jeon So-min, and Lee Min-ho on how they personally keep up with self-care alongside work demands.

If you’re a fan of romantic K-dramas then you’re surely familiar with leading lady Kim Ha-neul who’s known for her relatable and charming character. On top of that, she seems to have found the fountain of youth, looking radiant as ever in her 40s.
Is it the crisp Korean air, the Jeju water, or an endless supply of snail mucin? Actually, the actress shared that it’s first and foremost, confidence. And to exude that, “[It’s] about being prepared at all times so that I am ready to meet anyone.”
On top of that, Kim also champions a balanced self-care routine which includes Ultherapy®—a non-invasive procedure that is used to lift the skin around the neck and key areas of the face. Those in the film business know that the hours can be extensive, so Kim shared that this option works best for her in addition to regular exercise, regular trips to a dermatologist, and of course, drinking lots of water. “I used to think thinking positively, smiling a lot…[was enough]. Now, I also receive help from the dermatologist and maintenance regimes,” she added.

Similar thoughts were expressed by variety show staple Jeon So-min, who you may have seen a lot on the hit show, Running Man. Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder but Jeon had another, more inspirational take on the matter. “…I think beauty is love. Loving family, friends, nature, life, and work—loving things that do not change and are lasting. When you are full of love, you also glow; you are radiant from within.” Truly, a sentiment that, perhaps, most of us can relate to. When you’re joyful, you do exude an undeniable charismatic aura.
Still, we all need a little help when it comes to amplifying our charisma. Jeon has been a fan of Ultherapy® for over five years. She noted that it’s become her favourite treatment mostly because it is non-invasive, long-lasting, but most importantly, it doesn’t have any downtime. And as a multi-hyphenate actress, she’s one who can’t afford to lose even a day for recuperation. And to top it off, she’s only had to use it once a year to achieve exceptional results.

Unlike Kim, Jeon humorously shared she’s not very good at exercising, turning more towards sports or lighter programmes like Pilates. She complements her Ultherapy® regime by eating well and focusing on a healthy mental state. “When it comes to first impressions, people look at your skin. If you have clear skin, you look attractive and [trustworthy],” the actress added. And with sensitive skin, a procedure like Ultherapy® is the way to go as it has no side effects.

While we’ve heard a lot of insight from the ladies, guests were quite curious to hear from the man-of-the-hour and K-drama king himself, Lee Min-ho. If anyone has a packed schedule, there’s no doubt that Lee’s calendar has him booked with shootings, endorsements, and jet-setting around the world for promotions. Makes you wonder, how does the star truly maintain his good looks and with that, good skin? How does he handle all the pressure?
“My career puts me in front of people who are watching everything I do. When I am loved by them and when they like my performance in shows, I feel confident and I try harder,” the actor shared.
“I’m not very diligent [with taking care of my skin]. Because I have to put on makeup every day, I focus on cleansing. I try to put on facial masks and moisturizing skincare… this is what I focus on,” he added.
The star also spoke about the pressures of being under the limelight, especially now that K-culture and K-dramas have been growing exponentially worldwide. What is it like for a career veteran like him? “There are fixed, rigid standards of beauty in society,” he said bluntly. “[But] I think it’s very important to be set free from that constraint. We have to discover our inner beauty and uniqueness; this effort will help us recover our confidence.”

On top of Ultherapy®’s technical benefits, the actor is a believer in the brand’s message as well. “Times have changed. It’s not just the women, but men are also taking care of themselves. With Ultherapy®, you can take care of yourself and look ten to fifteen years younger,” Lee revealed.

In a study by Merz Aesthetics®, they found that only 44 per cent of consumers were confident about posting unedited photos on social media. There’s definitely a profound pressure that comes with self-representation which is linked with a fear of rejection—bad comments or criticism—all of these chip away at our confidence. But the actor had wise words to share for those who have self-doubt. “Everyone is precious and beautiful. Love yourself first… so that you can love other people.”
With regard to his self-care routine, Lee said, “I eat well, sleep well, and have a moderate amount of exercise.” As a staple in K-culture and shows, it’s also his love for work that keeps him going. “I work really hard, so passion helps too.”

While a lot’s been said about beautification and skincare hacks, there’s no doubt that all ambassadors are united under the ethos of Merz Aesthetics®’ campaign. It’s about mindfulness and kindness. Taking time to treat yourself and investing in a routine that works and cares for you.
Want youthful skin? Find your perfect regime as self-care isn’t a one-thing-fits all. And if these stars’ jaw-dropping looks are anything to base on, how about topping that off with regular sessions of Ultherapy®?
