One could say that it was merely her alluring beauty that catapulted Ellen Adarna Ramsay’s status as a sultry, disruptive symbol in the local celebrity scene, but that just isn’t the whole truth.
Over the years, the model and actress has been famed for her incredibly unapologetic personality both on and off the camera; and this is likewise what has made her seemingly unshakeable from the criticism and controversy that plagued her early career. “I’m used to it now,” she remarks of this. Having just turned 35, she can confidently say that she doesn’t regret staying unabashedly true to herself as the world watched from the sidelines.

Just as she openly shares on her social media platforms, the star’s priorities in life have evidently changed in recent years. She has indefinitely stepped back from doing soaps and movies to focus on being a family woman: being a mum to her four-year-old son Elias and a wife to fellow actor Derek Ramsay. Ellen reveals that they personally love to ski together and pursue adventures around the world. Most of the time though, their days are also spent in the comforts of their home. With her smile, she admits, “I think now people will be surprised when I tell them I’m a homebody. I’m an introvert; I only go out when I have work.”
Ellen adds that she likes abiding by a routine to keep her life pretty balanced. She would usually wake up at 6am and, until Derek and Elias rise at around 9am, would dedicate this time to fitness and self-care. She always strives to put her health first, especially after struggling to do so when the long hours and demands of her showbiz career once filled up her schedule. “I really value my rest and recovery. Not being able to have that was the most challenging part of the job. It wasn’t the people judging and criticising me,” she shares candidly.
Just as she takes care of her physical well-being, she’s also taken the steps to ensure her mental strength through it all. One of her practices is setting small, doable goals every day and, by achieving them, she is able to trust herself more amid the unpredictable challenges that come her way. “Living my truth and being comfortable with my own skin helped me develop a strong sense of self-worth. Because of this, I am able to welcome the changes in my life with open arms including motherhood,” she muses.

Beauty treatments continue to be quite taboo in our society, despite the increasing acceptance for them among people of various ages. Ellen hopes to make an impact in changing this narrative, serving as an example herself. “I am known as a very straight-to-the-point person, and for me, happiness is a choice... If you are not happy with something about yourself, you change it,” she imparts. “I think that by showing people how choosing yourself is the best way to live your life, I can empower not just women but a lot of people.”
The world has truly watched her evolve—from being a budding internet celebrity in her teen years, emerging as an icon of modern femininity on the screen, to becoming a mum and a wife with her best foot forward. She embodies what it means to be securely unabashed in your own skin no matter what you’re facing, echoing the message that adversity only builds character. “The struggles that I had in life and how I was able to overcome those are where my real confidence comes from,” Ellen adds. “Don’t ever apologise for being yourself. Remember, no bad takes!” Through her journey, she underscores how this can radiate onto others from within, and that it all begins when we love and care for ourselves.
