Held in partnership with XA Network, the latest Tatler House Dialogue session delved into the unique challenges and opportunities within Southeast Asia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem
For the fourth edition of Tatler House Dialogue held on October 4, we delved into the intricacies of entrepreneurship and investing with a fireside chat with Kabir Narang, founding general partner of B Capital. Organised in partnership with investment group XA Network, we gathered a distinguished group of XA Network members to engage in a compelling discussion about Southeast Asia’s investment ecosystem, business building and scaling, and the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the industry.
Tatler Singapore’s chief operating officer Parminder Singh kicked off the evening with a warm welcome address to our esteemed guests, before introducing Unravel Carbon’s chief commercial officer Toby Berger, our panel moderator for the evening.

The dialogue opened with a critical examination of Southeast Asia’s potential as a start-up hub. While the region is recognised for its vibrant entrepreneurial spirit, it also presents unique challenges such as regulatory hurdles and fragmented markets. Narang shared his perspective on how these factors compare to global investment landscapes. He emphasised that while challenges exist, they are often accompanied by opportunities for innovative solutions, urging early-stage investors to remain adaptable and informed.
A pivotal question addressed during the event was whether start-ups should prioritise regional scaling before pursuing global markets. Narang advocated for a balanced approach, suggesting that while establishing a strong foothold in Southeast Asia is crucial, founders should not overlook the potential of entering international markets early on.

As artificial intelligence continues to dominate investment discussions, participants explored which sectors remain undervalued. Narang pointed to areas such as climate technology and healthcare innovations as ripe for investment but often overlooked by traditional investors. The fireside chat also dived into practical advice for investors, highlighting the importance of characteristics such as resilience and market understanding when considering investments.
A spirited Q&A session brought the fireside chat to a close, and guests enjoyed mingling over delectable canapés and desserts from One Farrer Hotel.
